CAEF Letter to Mayor and Council of Vaughan, Ontario re: Appreciation & Gratitude for raising the flag of Israel on Israel's Independence Day

Dear City of Vaughan Officials,

As a proud Canadian, I would like to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the City of Vaughan for raising the flag of Israel on May 14, 2024, honouring Israel’s Independence Day.

As a long-time resident in Ontario, I appreciate that you respect Israel which is a beacon of democracy and prosperity in the Middle East.

It is important that we, as a community who share those same values, come together to support and recognize the creation of the modern state of Israel. While the flag raising acknowledges Israel’s sovereignty and right to exist, it also is a symbol of peace, acceptance, stability and cooperation in the region, helping to foster understanding and respect among different cultures and nations.

Thank you for allowing me to attend your flag raising ceremony and for the words of inclusion you spoke to the Jewish community.
