Re: Canada’s inconsistent response to Hamas & PA terrorism
Dear Prime Minister Trudeau and Minister Joly;
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation welcomes your government’s strong support for Israel, our true ally in the Middle East, and the sincere effort to evacuate Canadians who wish to leave Israel at this time. However, we must point out that for the past 5 years we have urged that Canada withhold funding from UNRWA which is incubating anti-Israel terrorists and it is the PA approved curriculum they deliver.
It is quite shocking and pathetic that Canada has actually increased funding and chosen to ignore all the evidence that shows PA approved UNRWA text books are riddled with antisemitic content that denies the existence of Israel, while many UNRWA teachers encourage Jew hatred, and summer camps operated by Hamas for UNRWA students train kids to kill!
On several occasions, CAEF has provided you and all members of Parliament with evidence of this antisemitic education; we have textbooks in hand to show the pages that honour Jew killers. Arab kids are fed hatred for Jews and the goal of becoming a terrorist from an early age. PA media sponsors hatred, no less than Hamas. Children in classrooms are seen speaking messages of bigotry not of peace, never of coexistence, and encouraged to set themselves the goal of growing up to become a martyr of Islam and kill a Jew.
Canada is therefore complicit in preparing Palestinian Arab children for events like the massacre that just occurred in Israel on October 7th. You can decry it, talk about how savage it was, but look at how your government supported this training. Even now as the dead are still being counted and the injured lie in hospital, you have not announced a funding cut or withholding of funds from UNRWA which is one of the simplest things you could do to reduce the likelihood this barbarism will occur again. Canada must call on its allies to all withhold funds, immediately.
Sincerely,

Andria Spindel
