Speaking Truth Over Lies CAEF Bulletin July 2, 2021

Sources of Lies

The battle to combat antisemitism is a moving field, a growing space, a multi-media, multi-faceted war. The lies keep coming, from academia they include the Faculties of Medicine and Law at University of Toronto; Gender studies, Islamic Studies and Middle East Studies across the country, Social Sciences and Humanities programs in specific campuses, and are companions to the trendy anti-Israel student movements for BDS and Pro-Palestine. These youth organizations are often affiliated with the Muslim Student Association, the National Conference of Canadian Muslims, the US-based Students for Justice in Palestine—all connected with the Muslim Brotherhood and some with known terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Samidoun, Hezbollah, the PLFP or its affiliates.

The work of researching all the links is incomplete but what is known leads one to question where is the head of this Lernaean Hydra, for as in mythology, with every head chopped off two more are grown?

Why Do We Not Name the Enemy on the Left?

Gil Troy, has published an extremely important article, drawn here from the Pittsburg JewishChronicle June 3, 2021, from which CAEF draw’s this excerpt:

“In a polarized polity, too many in the overwhelmingly liberal American-Jewish community either ignore or cover up left-wing complicity in the New Antisemitism, meaning anti-Zionist Jew-hatred. Call it Zio-washing: bleaching the anti-Zionism out of modern antisemitism.”

Gil Troy is a Distinguished Scholar in North American History at McGill University currently living in Jerusalem. He is an award-winning American presidential historian and a leading Zionist activist. This piece first appeared on JTA.

Truth Teller

On May 23, 2021, the Algemeiner published a story about an Israeli Arab, Ambassador George Deek, telling Hamas that they will not win, that their campaign is based on lies. One would have to ask if any aspect of Hamas and its purpose was based on anything but lies, their purpose being essentially to destroy Israel, ensure no lasting peace, no ever-present Jewish state.

Ambassador Deek is a Christian whose message included: “I look at my brothers and sisters in Gaza, and I see what you have done to their (Gazan) lives. You deny them basic rights. You steal their money. You kill those who dare to disagree with you. You want to destroy Israel, launching rockets that kill Jews, Muslims and Christians alike.”

Leftist Illiberalism

As universities continue to spread anti-Israel antisemitism, the voices of leftist wokism, are impacting many sectors with Jew hatred. The treatment of April Powers, a Black woman, and the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is indicative of this intolerance and bias. It is becoming impossible to underestimate the injustice of antisemitism in each and every aspect of society.

Muslims speak up against Jew-hatred

Youseph Haddad, a Christian Israeli activist and disabled IDF veteran, has spoken world-wide about the lies of foreign funded leftist NGOs, Arab terrorists, and the recently elected Ra’am party (United Arab List) in Israel. In an article published by January 18, 2021, in United with Israel, he is reported to have said:

When B’Tselem director Hagai El-Ad, who is Jewish, decides that I, my Arab family, and my Arab friends are all living under an apartheid regime, he and his organizations are basically telling us they see us as second-class citizens.”

Haddad challenges this lie, proves Israel is not an apartheid state. Read article.

Hussein Aboubakr Mansour, an Egyptian Muslim, now Director of Program for Emerging Democratic Voices from the Middle East for EMET, published his biography, A Minority of One: The Unchaining of the Arab Mind, detailing the horrific indoctrination of hatred and lies about Israel that he experienced throughout his formal education in Cairo.

Khaled Abu Toameh is an award winning Arab Muslim Israeli journalist based in Jerusalem. His contributions to Gatestone Institute are magnificent and tell honest, important stories about the lies, corruption, and dangers under the Palestinian Authority. The West largely ignores the PA’s abuses of power, its practice of torture and intimidation, fraud, and the incredible compendium of Jew hatred. On June 30th, 2021 his article on police brutality under the PA was published by Gatestone and can be read here.

A Non-Jewish Voice in US Newspaper, Denounces Antisemitism

The source of this article that appeared May 27, 2021 in the Wall Street Journal, inspires me to share it. This is from Donna Brazile, a Black non-Jewish woman, former chair of the Democratic National Party, who sees antisemitism and calls it out. Here is an important sentence:

“I am proud to stand with Jews against anti-Semitism, just as many Jews have stood and continue to stand with black Americans against racism.”

End Jew Hatred is helping to organize two major rallies, July 11 in Washington, D.C. and July 25 in San Franciso, California. For information, contact: anita@caef.ca

Municipal Leaders Must Clearly Stand Against Jew-hatred

The Combat Antisemitism Movement is calling on Mayors to sign a pledge to fight antisemitism. CAEF calls on Mayor John Tory and Mayors across Ontario to sign this pledge. Will you join us? Use this article, and send a letter to your mayor, include the link to the pledge. Tell your Mayor you will publish his or her name, noting if they signed or did not sign. Send the information to andria@caef.ca

Ask your mayor to sign the pledge

Jewish Ethics Requires Self-Defense: It is Not Ok to be Passive

While not every person can or should take up self-defense training or fire arms training, it is required by Torah to not stand by if you yourself or someone near you is being attacked. That message, simply expressed as “if you see someone coming to kill you, kill him first,” was the underlying message in a lesson provided by Rabbi Cary Kozberg in a recent Web Talk for CAEF.

The topic is controversial. Aren’t Jews to remain unapologetically passive, resist arms and refuse to fight even if attacked. This is a paradox because Jews know that every Israeli child will go through self-defense training, will serve a mandatory period in the IDF, will lay down his or her life to defend their country, and will stand proudly to protect the country and its people. Jews need defend all Israelis, regardless of political perspective, and recognize that 20% of the population is Arab. Increasingly some Muslims and Christians, as well as all Druze choose to serve in the IDF.

There is an incredible code of conduct that demonstrates the humane aspect of the IDF, and the connection of this code of morality to Jewish ethics was made clear by Rabbi Kozberg.

We are proud to present this webinar and invite you to share it widely. Remember Rabbi Kozberg said, “use of force or use of arms is always prefaced by the word “responsible.”
