Standing Up Against Jew Hatred Does Work - CAEF Bulletin March 12, 2021

Ajax Resident and Councillors Make a Difference

Resident of Ajax, Adam Wiseman, initiated a petition to have the name of a Nazi Navy Captain, Langsdorff, removed from a street in his town. On March 8th, immediately after the vote at Council, Councillor Stirling Lee sent CAEF the following message:

Great news...it's done! Name changed to Croker Drive. (Commemorates V.G. Croker, who served on the HMS Ajax from 1940-41, and A.J. Croker, who was killed in action during the Battle of the River Plate in 1939 while serving on the HMS Exeter. Croker remains the only name on the Town’s Street Name Reserve List representing a veteran who lost his life during the Battle of the River Plate.)

Councillor Lisa Bower who initiated the vote for changing the street name shared the following:

Today we righted a wrong. I am thankful to Mr. Wiseman for his initiative and to my Council colleagues for taking action with me and standing up against discrimination.

The full story on this citizen action to right a wrong is found on TheJ.ca of March 9th, 2021.

Adam Wiseman is on to the next civic action to have hateful antisemitic messages removed from civic areas. He created a facebook page to support a petition initiated by a citizen of Puslinch, Ontario who has tried for over 15 years to change the name of the street he lives on, which is Swastika Trail. The name is specifically associated with Nazism and is not referencing a cultural symbol that since centuries earlier has been a Hindu symbol. As Wiseman points out, petitions work, particularly at the local level where governments pay attention to people’s interests, “… it took a ton of time to get signatures and promote it.”

Where is Israel/Palestine?

Israel/Palestine presented as though such a country exists? I don’t know if it is intended to mean there is one country with that name or to imply there are two legitimate countries. Neither is true!

There is no such state, except perhaps in the mind of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor, who can’t read a map, has limited history education, is unquestionably unfamiliar with the legality of Israel’s rights, and has a unique history as the Chief Prosecutor for Gambia during that country’s reign of terror. There is no State of Palestine. There never was. Here is the history of the name Palestine.

“Palestine” meant The Jewish Homeland

The flag of Palestine, 1939 Larousse-French-dictionary-from-1939

PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein said this in 1977:

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism.

Members of the Toronto Jewish community took a stand for Israeli sovereignty on February 21st to show support for residents of Judea and Samaria who are witnessing increased encroachment on lands in Area C meant for Jewish settlement by Arabs building illegal structures funded by the EU or planting thousands of trees funded by the government of Jordan. The enemies of Israel are devious, deceitful, duplicitous and downright nasty about claiming to be against antisemitism and then being lawless in promoting it.

A Student Remembers the Jew Hatred at York U

After an explosive evening of anti-Israel, Jew hating protest by members of the so-called social justice group, Students Against Israeli Apartheid at York U in November 2019, the university appointed investigation resulted in a report on how to accommodate student requests for on campus events and produced a revised protocol, but did it address endemic antisemitism? We think not. While the campus has been shut down, while there have been no reports of serious incidents throughout 2020, what has the university done to be proactive in avoiding a repititoin of expressed Jew hatred in the future?

Is it sufficient to have processes and procedures in place that ultimately grant the Jew haters a platform for spewing their messages that deny the integrity of the Jewish state, that call for its destruction while ignoring all the state terrorism of Iran, the lack of democracy in Venezuela, the lack of religious freedom in China? Israel is after all, the only democracy with full and equal rights for all its citizens, regardless of religion, race or ethnicity.

Here is a reminder of that eventful evening when Herut Toronto sponsored 4 IDF Reservists to speak on campus and took great precautions to ensure that safety was addressed, but nonetheless, the attendees experienced harassment and denigration by SAIA.

End Jew Hatred Canada Supports Call to Revise California Ethnic Studies Curriculum

The controversy about California’s proposed mandatory Ethnic Studies Curriculum has raged for months, actually years as drafts 1 and 2 were rejected for including antisemitic stereotypes, antiZionist lies and depicting Jews as part of an oppressor class. Suffice it to say that the whole concept of the hierarchy of victimhood is obnoxious, the new victimology studies and critical race theory are divisive and ahistorical. Any courses based on this fallacious idea is bound to pit communities against one another and to assume some are more equal than others, more deserving now of attention, of justice. That is unjust in the extreme.
