ISSUES YOU NEED TO ADDRESS
CAEF urges readers to take action whenever seeing an item or situation that promotes antisemitism, lies about Israel or denies Israel and Jewish rights. These issues need you now. Take action!
Remove This Antisemitic Movie
Write to Netflix to remove the Jordanian film Farha, by director Darin J. Sallam, in which IDF soldiers are seen murdering a Palestinian family during the War of Independence. This film was released on Netflix in December. The film takes place in 1948 in Mandatory Palestine and is about a 14-year-old Palestinian girl whose father locks her in a warehouse because of IDF attacks in the village. The production claims to be "inspired by true events", however, this is a lie.

The Canadian Museum of Human Rights Intends to Establish a Palestinian Gallery Exhibit to Feature Anti-Israel Narratives
On December 10, 2023 pro-Hamas-Palestinian-anti-Israel protesters gathered outside and then stormed into the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, Manitoba to call attention to the human rights crisis in Gaza during the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. The rally was organized by several support and solidarity groups, including Queers for Palestine, Peace Alliance and Ramsay Zeid, president of the Canadian Palestinian Association of Manitoba.
Positive Actions to Support Truth
From Germany: Recognizing Israel’s right to exist is now mandatory for those who want to become German citizens in the former East German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
Applicants living in the state will have to confirm in writing “that they recognize Israel’s right to exist and condemn any efforts directed against the existence of the State of Israel.” Saxony-Anhalt’s interior minister, Tamara Zieschang, a member of the center-right Christian Democratic Union party, said Tuesday that the rule went into effect at the end of November.

From Canada: Michael Teper, CAEF Board member has filed a number of complaints with the Ontario College of Teachers regarding certified teachers making antisemitic remarks on their social media. In all cases, the material has been documented and the OCT has acknowledged receipt. Investigations generally follow.
On December 5, 2023, the Ontario College of Teachers Discipline Committee issued a Notice of Hearing into the conduct of Fernanda Caranfa, OCT, formerly of the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
The complaint filed by CAEF Board member Michael Teper alleged that Caranfa had made numerous Twitter postings demonizing Jews, calling them “Moloch worshippers” and the “enemies of Christ” and denying the Holocaust. According to the complaint, now adopted by the College as an allegation, her postings would reasonably be regarded by members as disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional; she engaged in conduct unbecoming a member of OCT; and her remarks exposed a person or class of persons to hatred on the basis of a prohibited ground of discrimination under Part 1 of the Human Rights Code.
Details of the allegations in support of the complaints show posts that include Holocaust denial, claims that most Russian communists were Jews, that the crematoriums in Poland were built after 1947, that Jews are ‘nobody’s friend,” that “Jews are the enemies of Christ,” and more.
The Member’s twitter account has been deleted and she has not made herself available for any calls placed by the OCT. Since she also failed to respond to written notice of a complaint the College can assess this as professional misconduct. After successive attempts to reach Ms Caranfa, she was notified that the matter was referred to the College’s Discipline Committee.
Ms Caranfa did finally reply by email in late October 2023, that she feels she has justification for her views, that she has the freedom to express them and that she is being harassed by the College.
The Discipline Committee notified Ms Caranfa that she is entitled to attend the hearing when it is scheduled and for which she will be given notice, and may bring legal counsel.
This is one of over twenty complaints filed by Mr Teper and the CAEF pertaining to antisemitism in the past three years regarding anti-Israel bias in teaching materials, and related professional misconduct.
CAEF calls on the Ontario College of Teachers once again to adopt a Professional Advisory on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism.

Demand for Red Cross to Visit and Protect Israeli Hostages
Sign this letter to urge relevant authorities and international bodies involved in this matter to ensure that the Red Cross gets unrestricted access for regular visits with the hostages in Gaza. This will not only uphold their basic human rights but also provide much-needed medical attention and psychological support.
Grassroots organizers took the message directly to the Canadian Red Cross on December 19th, demanding the CRC fulfill its mandate to secure the safety and protect civilians during war, including assuring the wellbeing of hostages. Canadians for Israel, an all-volunteer group, gathered almost 100 packages addressed to the hostages, providing vital supplies such as hygiene and medical products, that were then delivered by a team led by Daphna Pollak and Lisa Klug, to the Red Cross headquarters in Mississauga.
No one from CRC showed up to receive the goods or the many letters written to the hostages, nor to hear the open letter directed to the International Red Cross CEO, pressing for the NGO's actions to immediately address the needs and confirm the status of all hostages.
Israel Protesters Target MPs Who Support Israel
Offices of both MPs Ya'ara Saks, York Center and Kevin Vuong, Spadina-Forty York were objects of pro-Palestinian protests, obviously rejecting Israel's defensive war against Hamas terrorists. Jews and Israelis have friends in government who are vilified and targeted.

Premier Doug Ford Expresses Strong Support to Israel and the Jewish Community
At a Chanukah Celebration and Menorah lighting, cosponsored by the Government of Ontario and the Israeli Consulate for Ontario and the Western Provinces, the Premier of Ontario spoke of his respect and admiration for Israel, unequivocal support in her war against Hamas, and his love of the Jewish people. He noted members of his government who’ve risen above the fray and spoken loud and proud in support of Israel.
The Premier lit a candle, as did a dozen members of the government, including cabinet ministers, followed by senior members of Toronto Police Services, special friends and allies, Jewish defenders, and representatives of major Jewish organizations, including a 96-year-old Holocaust survivor. While the event was celebratory, there was a cast of angst and grief over the party as people watched images of hit ages still in Gaza, and heard of terror and heroism on and after October 7.
May all the hostages be returned home, soon, and victory be Israel’s. Am Yisrael Chai!
