CAEF letter of commendation to Judge Julia Sabutinde for rational and just response to South Africa’s allegations at the International Court of Justice

Dear Judge Sabutinde,

On behalf of the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation, an NGO that has been raising concerns about rising antisemitism for over 20 years. We commend you for your integrity and calls for justice for Israel.

Your statements at the ICJ demonstrate a firm understanding of the law, of the difference between law and politics, and most importantly, you recognize how Jew hatred works. The entire claim by South Africa was reminiscent of so many periods in world history when false claims were made against the Jewish collective, and now they are made against Israel.

No other country in the Middle East or North Africa has as great a focus on the rule of law, on civil rights, on social welfare and equality of all, as Israel. Only in Israel are minority communities guaranteed their rights and protected from all forms of discrimination.

No other war has been fought with so much focus on morality. Israel does not wish to hurt or kill innocent people, but it must proceed to eradicate Hamas, which will improve the lives of Arabs and Jews.

May you know peace as you stand alone in a court, and a world, that isn’t entirely focused on justice when it comes to considering justice for Jews.

Many blessings to you.

With great respect,

Andria Spindel
