CANADIAN GOVERNMENT STILL FUNDING PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY DESPITE ITS CONTINUING INCITEMENT TO VIOLENCE
Canada committed $25million to Hamas, a terrorist organization in Gaza and the supposedly “moderate” Palestine Authority (PA) which governs parts of Judea and Samaria, referred to as the “West Bank”, with no questions asked, despite the overwhelming evidence that both were instigating the recent upsurge in Islamist violence in May and both are still seeking Israel’s utter obliteration. While the PA and Hamas are in constant conflict for control of the Palestinian Arab lands, neither seeks peace with Israel, neither supports equity of any sort and both will severely punish any Palestinian Arab that supports normalization or even does business with a Jew.
Naivety, lack of knowledge, or willful ignorance leads many to accept the PA and the status of non-negotiation, non-co-existence that is the hallmark of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who has governed without elections for over 16 years. He has been given a pass, especially by the left-leaning, for far too long. In the PA ruled parts of the “West Bank” Mahmoud Abbas rules absolutely, violently supressing all dissent. He has refused to allow either presidential or parliamentary elections since 2005 despite his record of corruption.
Under his watch, Palestinians have no right to freedom of speech or freedom to assembly, and those who are political dissenters, are imprisoned or even murdered, like the late Nizar Banat.
The PA has a “Pay for Slay” program, by which hundreds of millions of dollars are each year paid to imprisoned terrorists and to the families of dead terrorists, and the amount is based on how many and how violently the terrorist has killed Jews. This should be investigated as a crime against humanity and not rewarded. This practice encourages future terrorism, and recently Abbas said in the UN that he has no intention of giving up this practice. Canada is endorsing this by virtue of funding the PA under any assumptions that it will spend the funds wisely and benefit the Palestinian Arab people.
Terrorists are honoured by having streets and schools in Palestinian areas named after them. The antisemitism in Palestinian schoolbooks rivals that of the third Reich. Young Palestinians are indoctrinated to hate Israelis through textbooks, teaching materials such as maps, and the media, thus creating future generations unmotivated to seek peace and who perpetuate a culture of violence.
Canada also sends millions to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and that organization is almost without parallel in Jew hatred. Funds send to UNRWA support the antisemitic, violence inducting curriculum and the corruption of the agency itself. Recently the European Union announced they are withholding funds pending a rewrite of the texts to meet the expected standard of education for peace and co-existence. The US likewise has put conditions on future funding. Canada is only giving lip-service to any requirements of UNRWA.
In addition, CAEF has shared proof provided by the Center for Near East Policy Research that UNRWA students are indoctrinated by Hamas at summer camps operating in Gaza. Palestinian children, some as young as nine years old, are sent to summer camps to be trained to shoot guns at Jews, to fire missiles and stab Israeli Jews. In fact, the call to destroy Israel by violent jihad isn’t even challenged by Canada.
The Harper Government defunded UNWRA over its ties to Hamas, a listed terrorist organization. The Liberals restored funding in 2016. In August 2018 former US President Trump withdrew over $360 million from the organization, citing its anti-Israel bias. Canada simply increased its level of funding.
In a recent speech to the UN, Abbas referred to the State of Israel as a “catastrophe”, rejected criticism of the PA terror reward payments and told outright lies.
Among Palestinian Arabs there is no leader with the will to negotiate for peace and no desire to give up terrorism. In 1967 the PA, Fatah, the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Hamas and other hostile jihadi supporting entities, supported the Khartoum Declaration from which they have never departed: “No recognition of Israel. No peace with Israel. No negotiations with Israel.” Hamas and the PA’s positions to this day are unchanged and unbending, and the funding by Canada therefore does not meet the standards which Canada subscribed to when adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of Antisemitism, but neither does it meet any code of morality.
