CAEF Statement on the Israeli Strike on Hamas Leaders in Qatar

Toronto, Canada – September 11, 2025

CAEF supports the action by the State of Israel to strike at the leadership of the terrorist organization Hamas in Doha, on September 9, 2025.  While the specific results of the strike are uncertain at the time of writing, the targeted leaders were responsible for the massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, which was the worst attack on the citizens of Israel and the Jewish people since the Holocaust.  Their genocidal attack resulted in the death of 1200 innocent Israelis and foreign nationals and the kidnapping of 251 women, children, men and boys.

This is the first time an offensive operation has been conducted in Qatar.

Israeli Air Force pilots launched an unprecedented attack, utilizing precision bombs against the leadership of Hamas who had been living in luxurious accommodations and offered safe sanctuary in Doha, Qatar.

US President Donald Trump had been notified ahead of the attack, but Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu stated that Israel acted alone in this operation.

The leaders of Hamas had been gathered in Doha to discuss President Trump’s most recent peace proposal. The decision to launch this strike was after Hamas murdered six people in Ramot, Israel, the day before.

Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that this was retaliation for the attack in Israel on Monday, and there was... “an operational opportunity, and in consultation with all heads of the defense establishment and with full backing, the prime minister and defense minister decided to implement the instruction given…to the IDF and the Shin Bet.”

Hamas could have ended the war by releasing the hostages, surrendering, giving up their arms, and thus freeing the people of Gaza from their tyranny.  They have chosen not to.
