This headline in Times of Israel is Terrifying:
In Israel, people woke up to an invasion, to shootings in Southern Israel, to seeing terrorists on their streets and attacks on civilians. Hostages have been taken by Hamas—a terrifying situation.
It is Shabbat, and respectfully, CAEF would not normally send out any messages but this situation is urgent and requires a statement from every Jewish organization and every Jew—
WE WILL NOT BE SILENT! WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED!
The Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation stands with Israel and condemns the terrorist entity, Hamas and its associates, supporters, defenders, funders and Jew haters. There is no justification for this wanton act of barbarism. There is no justification for the immorality displayed by Hamas and other terrorist entities, which now support the murder of civilians, invasion of a sovereign nation, and their planned annihilation of Israel.
Israel has a right to defend itself, and to destroy its enemies. It has the right and duty to protect its citizens and while doing so, it is defending the only democracy in the Middle East. It is protecting the Christian and Muslim populations as well as the Jews, whether religious or secular, conservative or liberal, and it is protecting the immigrants and refugees who have sought safety in Israel.
Hamas is protecting no one, cares little for its own constituents and every day sacrifices the lives and livelihoods of Arabs in Gaza.
Canada Stands with Israel
"Canadian politicians condemned an unprecedented Saturday attack Hamas militants waged on Israel that is being called the deadliest in the country in years.
Hours after the militants fired thousands of rockets and sent dozens of fighters to infiltrate the heavily fortified border by air, land and sea, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canada strongly condemns the attacks and called for civilian life to be protected.” (National Post, Oct 7, 2023)
And CTV reports:
“Canada's federal leaders are condemning a surprise assault by the Hamas militant group on Saturday in what has become the deadliest attack in Israel in years.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said in a statement he ‘unequivocally’ condemns ‘the invasion of Israel by Hamas terrorists and the sadistic violence they have subsequently carried out against innocent civilians.’"

The US Republican Jewish Coalition released a statement:
“On the 50-year anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, during Shabbat and the holiday of Simchat Torah, Iran-backed Hamas terrorists launched a coordinated, sophisticated, and barbaric attack on Israeli civilians and soldiers - launching thousands of rockets, kidnapping families, and murdering innocents in their homes and on the streets.”
“We must never draw any kind of equivalence between rampaging Hamas terrorists targeting Israeli civilians and our greatest ally in the region defending itself from these heinous attacks, and it is deeply troubling that the Biden administration’s first instinct was to do exactly that.
Please join us in praying for the people of Israel - we pray for the wounded, and for those whose lives we’ve lost: May their memories be a blessing forever.”
Combat Antisemitism Movement
Sacha Roytman-Dratwa, CEO of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) sent this global message:
“I’m calling on world leaders and all good people of conscience to not stay silent at this perilous moment, and to remain vigilant. As the situation continues to escalate, I urge leaders across the globe to ensure the safety of local Jewish communities.
Sadly, during the May 2021 Israel-Gaza conflict, CAM’s Antisemitism Research Center documented hundreds of incidents in which Hamas supporters targeted Jews in the Diaspora – from Los Angeles to Paris. Today’s tragic events are unprecedented in the 21st century, and we must do everything in our power to protect Jews worldwide from the scourge of this kind of antisemitic hatred and violence.”
