News Flash! More Mezuzah vandalism in Toronto
CAEF was notified on December 25th that another Senior Citizens’ condo building has been vandalized, likely during the night of December 24th. Three people reported that Mezuzahs were ripped from their door frames and police were called.
Fear. Anger. Suspicion. These are the feelings expressed by tenants in the building and for those who were victimized it is a personal invasion, a trauma created by the distinct expression of antisemitism, in an otherwise safe building, safe community, safe country. This is NOT okay.
While cameras, monitors, guards can be added, this is not how people want to live. Jews have guarded entrances to places of worship, community centres, schools and cultural institutions. Must we now have guards and added surveillance at our homes?
CAEF expresses deep concern and support for those affected, and we are asking our city officials, police and countrymen—what is being done to eliminate threats to our community?
Brigette Gabriel Awarded, An Ally in Action
This article was reported in ELNET-US, December 19, 2025.
Dame Brigitte Gabriel, the renowned Lebanese American activist, NYT best-selling author, and founder of ACT for America, has been awarded the Menachem Begin Prize at an award Gala Ceremony held in Jerusalem December 16, at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center and attended by dignitaries, scholars, and civic leaders. This distinguished honor recognizes individuals or organizations for extraordinary contributions to the State of Israel and the Jewish people, embodying the bold leadership and commitment to peace exemplified by Israel's sixth Prime Minister, Menachem Begin.
In her acceptance remarks, Ms. Gabriel evoked the spirit of Menachem Begin's historic peace treaty with Egypt:
"In the spirit of Begin's visionary peace with Egypt—a bold leap that shattered walls of enmity and forged bonds of hope—I live and labor each day to nurture true peace between Israel and its neighbors. With unwavering dedication, I work to bridge the chasms that divide Israel and Lebanon, envisioning a horizon where ancient cedars and olive groves stand side by side in serenity, free from the shadows of conflict.
This pursuit extends to all borders, for I dream of a Middle East where swords are beaten into plowshares, where shared prosperity replaces shared suffering, and where the children of Abraham of all faiths walk together in the light of mutual respect."
Gabriel is the founder and chairman of ACT for America and has dedicated her career to promoting national security, human rights, and democratic principles. Her personal journey—from surviving the Lebanese Civil War to becoming a leading international voice for freedom—has inspired millions around the world.
Since the October 7th massacre, Brigitte Gabriel became one of the leading voices in defense of Israel's right to self-defence against the Terrorist Organization Hamas mobilizing over 7 million emails and phone calls to Congress to stand with Israel.
A 136-page report was done in Israel analyzing how Israel and those speaking up for Israel broke through to audiences worldwide outside of the pro-Israeli circle. IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari came as #1, Israeli Actress Noa Tishbi was #2 and Brigitte Gabriel #3.
The Menachem Begin Prize further underscores Brigitte Gabriel’s global impact as the #1 non-Jewish person with the most reach, standing with Israel, and her enduring leadership in defense of Jewish people, truth, and Western values.

New Czech Leaders Vow to Move Embassy to Jerusalem
The Czech Republic swore in a new conservative government this week that has signaled a desire to further strengthen relations with Israel, illustrated by announced plans to move its embassy to Jerusalem.
At a Hanukkah lighting ceremony, Czech Foreign Minister Petr Mačinka announced plans to relocate the embassy and said, “I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened until now."
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš pushed to move the embassy when he held the office from 2017-2021: Prague opened a "Czech House" in Jerusalem in November 2018, marking its first step towards establishing an embassy in the capital.

Message to Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow
from Aliza Spiro, Creative Director, Song Shule
Dear Mayor Chow,
I moved to Toronto from the USA in 2006. Today, as a Jew, I am afraid to continue living here. Before I elaborate, here is some background:
In 2011, I founded a music festival that has given work to hundreds of Canadian musicians and brought together tens of thousands of music-lovers of all backgrounds. In 2016, I co-founded an exciting new congregation that serves the Toronto Jewish community and has reached hundreds of thousands of Canadians through groundbreaking radio, television, and online broadcasts. I have also written, directed and/or produced full-scale, sold-out music and theatre productions at Toronto's major theatres and concert halls, uniting the community in a positive spirit.
I share this background for the sole purpose of showing you that, as an immigrant, I am excited about Toronto and have happily and gratefully contributed to the cultural landscape of this wonderful city of ours.
Since the October 7th Massacre, though, it is known that things have become more difficult for the Jewish people here. Nevertheless, I don't believe that you understand the level of fear that permeates the Jewish community.
Mayor Chow, quite frankly, and I am not alone in this, I attribute the ubiquitous danger we fear to you and your conspicuous absence of support for our community. You can issue statements all you like, but when you choose to not attend a 50,000-person Walk with Israel, or you choose to avoid a community commemoration for October 7th, your actions nullify your words, proving them empty. When you use the phrase "Genocide in Gaza", you are doing unspeakable damage.
Our enemies are watching, and your behaviour has empowered them horrifically. Our enemies are not simply bigots. Our enemies are bloodthirsty, angry, vicious antisemitic Hamas-supporters who hide their faces as they rally and shout "Globalize the Intifada" and "Death to the Jews". On your watch, right here in Toronto, our enemies attack synagogues repeatedly, shoot guns at girls' schools, beat up our university students, remove sacred mezuzahs from the doorposts of private homes, cover public spaces with anti-Jewish graffiti, vandalize Jewish businesses, and roam en masse, unchallenged, through Jewish neighbourhoods to intimidate the residents. You have allowed Toronto to become the Wild West without a marshal.
Our enemies want us dead. They say this. More and more loudly.

Moral Outrage Against Canadian Minister and Government
Writing in the Globe and Mail, December 24, 2025, Lawrence P. Haber expressed the current sentiment of a majority of Canadian Jews towards the Minister of Foreign Affairs, very well, so it is here in full.
“Apparently, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand has summoned Israel’s Ambassador for an explanation as to why Canadian MPs were turned away at the border from Jordan into the West Bank.
The Minister appears to not get it. Here’s what happened. The purpose of the visit, comprised of around 30 Canadians and six MPs, was ostensibly to meet with Palestinians in the territory. But it was more of a publicity stunt, of the sort you might see from Greta Thunberg, sponsored by malign parties and designed by people with an agenda, and meant to embarrass the Israeli government and deflect from the important and difficult work being done by others to try to reduce tensions in the region and mitigate the serious conflicts there.
Just like Canada, Israel, as a sovereign country, has the right to control its borders and decide who can enter. Ms. Anand’s summons, coupled with her government’s continued apparent indifference to the hostility, intimidation, harassment and violence being directed toward the Canadian Jewish community, puts Canadian Jews at risk of serious harm.

Toronto City Council Votes
to Support Establishing a Combined Federal, Provincial and Municipal Law Enforcement Task Force to Combat Acts of Hate and Terror
Councillor Mike Colle, seconded by Councillor James Pasternak, recommends that:
City Council request the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario to work with the City to establish a combined Federal, Provincial and Municipal, law enforcement joint task force comprised of but not limited to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Ontario Provincial Police, and Toronto Police Services to plan for, combat and prevent acts of antisemitic hate and violence directed at Toronto’s Jewish Community.
City Council request the Federal and Provincial governments to immediately take action to fund not only this task force but provide urgently needed financial support to the City of Toronto and other municipalities to adequately address the financial pressure due to the unprecedented rise in hate and violence directed at the Jewish and other vulnerable communities.
City Council forward this request to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, federal Minister of Public Safety, the Solicitor General and Attorney General of Ontario, and the Toronto Police Services Board.
This motion should be deemed urgent due to the need for urgent action at all levels of government to immediately address the rising threat of physical harm.
Positive View of Jews Expressed in Greek Textbooks
Impact-SC reported that recently updated textbooks have removed anti-Israel content.
“ IMPACT-sc’s “….report reveals that all remaining anti-Israel and antisemitic content — which had labeled Israel “the Occupation” and blamed Jews for Palestinian suffering — was recently removed from the 2025–26 curriculum edition. The study also finds that the Greek curriculum includes much positive and respectful material on Jews, Judaism, and the Holocaust.”
