Dear Honest Reporting and B’nai Brith,
I had registered a short while ago for the LeadNow emails because they had a valid petition about government overreach that I signed.
However, I just received this email from them, and let them that it’s blatant antisemitism and based on lies, and that I’m unsubscribing permanently.
But they are seen as a credible news source, and my fear is that will create untold misinformation among the many thousands of Canadians that they reach out.
I think they are worthy of an Honest Reporting backlash. I leave it up to you.
I’m also copying the leadership of the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation, who I work for and am affiliated with, as I’ve also notified them about this.
Let us know what you think can be done.
Regards,
David Stambler, Vancouver
David, mass starvation is spreading in Gaza.
As I'm typing this, the number of Palestinians who have died from starvation since Sunday has risen to 43. And hours ago, 100 humanitarian organizations released a statement warning that immediate action is needed to stave off mass death.
Aid and food supplies sit right outside Gaza's walls, but Israel is blocking their entry. Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers have killed almost 1000 people in the past month as they seek food at Israeli-run aid distribution sites. Israel's forced starvation of two million Palestinians is happening in front of our eyes, and yet Canadian and other Western leaders refuse to take action.
David, earlier this week, Canada and 26 other countries put out a statement condemning Israel’s attacks on Palestinians and warning that they "are prepared to take further action." But Israel has shown they don't respond to empty threats. As people collapse on the street and babies don't have enough formula to make it to their first birthday, there is no time for hollow warnings.
Canada has the power to impose sanctions — including an arms embargo — that can help bring an end to this genocide. History is watching and Canada must act. Send a message now demanding that Prime Minister Mark Carney and Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand sanction Israel.
This week Canada may have said they are prepared to take action, but the reality is that they made the same promise two months ago in a similar statement — and Carney’s government has only issued minor sanctions, no two-way arms embargo, and no real consequences.
Enough is enough. We are calling on the Canadian government to implement the following sanctions:
Implement a full two-way arms embargo, including closing loopholes.
Ban trade and work with companies complicit in the illegal occupation, including ending the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement.
Sanction Netanyahu, his cabinet, and other officials responsible for violations of human rights and international law: freeze their assets, prohibit all business and financial dealings and ban them from entering Canada.
For months, Israel has weaponized food, water, baby formula, and medicine to further their ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Gaza is being starved. And Canada is complicit.
With heavy hearts and determination,
Jesse and Peter, on behalf of Leadnow
