Letter from Richard Sherman to the Los Angeles Times (Oct 30, 2025) on Palestinian American’s campaign to free his son jailed for rock-throwing at Israelis and the deadly impact of such attacks

Dear Editor,

There is nothing "symbolic" about Arab rock throwing; the rock throwers intend to murder Jews, and they sometimes do. ("A Father's Campaign to Free His Palestinian American Son").

The Israeli government understands that Palestinian Arab rock throwing is a deadly activity which has resulted in the murder of numerous jews.

In fact the list of Jews including infants and young children murdered in Israel by Arab rock throwing includes: Yehuda Shoham, 5 months old, June 2001, stoned to death by Palestinian Arabs; Yonaton Palmer, 363 days old, September 2011, stoned to death by Arabs; Adele Biton, 4 years old when she died on February 17, 2015 as a result of being stoned by  Palestinian  Arabs on March 14, 2013.

Among other Jews murdered by Palestinian Arab rock throwing are Asher Palmer (24), Yonaton’s father. Also Esther Ohana (21) was murdered by Palestinian Arab rock throwing in January 1983. Tirza Porat,(15)was murdered by Palestinian Arab rock throwers on 4/7/88.

Palestinian Americans like Mohammed Zaher  Ibrahim who throw rocks at Jews in Israel like all Arabs who throw rocks at Jews in Israel intend to murder them, and sometimes they do. Symbols do not murder. People commit murder.
