Take Immediate Actions to Combat Antisemitism | CAEF Special Bulletin, Mar. 6, 2024

FIVE ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE TODAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Write the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Here is a link to a sample letter to the Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, which we ask you to copy, or to draft your own, and cc your local MP. Feel free to write your own letter or to call the Minister's office and leave a message expressing your request. Please do this immediately. Note that this week Melanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will be travelling to the Middle East, visiting several countries including Israel and pushing for a ceasefire and for a two-state solution. She has not retracted her "blood libel" falsely accusing the IDF of raping Arab women.

Sign This AGPI Petition

Canada has also rescinded its decision to withhold funding from UNRWA which has proven to be a significant supporter of Hamas; evidence has been provided to the UN showing that many employees helped carry out the massacre, hid hostages, celebrated the slaughter on October 7th, 2023,  and their entire education system teaches Arab kids to kill Jews. Sign the petition below from AGPI (Abraham Global Peace Initiative demanding that Canada not reinstate funding of terrorism.)

Stand with Israel at the BAYT on March 7th

Tomorrow, March 7th, there will be an Israeli program at the BAYT,  Beth Avraham Yosef Toronto synagogue, and anti-Israel protesters have put out a call for a large antiZionist protest. Come and Stand with Israel at the BAYT in Thornhill. Please see the notice issued by Rabbi Korobkin of the BAYT and join others in the community to stand strong for Israel. Bring Canadian and Israeli flags and abide by Rabbi Korobkin's request to remain peaceful and not to provoke any response from the protesters.

The York Regional police have of course been notified and are expected to be there to maintain peace and keep the Jewish counter-protesters apart from the Jew-haters.

Join Canadians for Israel in Toronto for a Rally on Friday, March 8th

Please see and share the press release below. about a demonstration on Friday, March 8thInternational Women's Day, to bring attention to the ongoing rape and molestation of Israeli women in captivity in Gaza.  Attend and encourage other people to attend this demonstration and support this message.

For Immediate Release:

(Toronto, Canada) Fourteen Israeli women remain among the 134 Israeli captives that Hamas abducted from Israel into Gaza during the October 7 massacre. These women continue to suffer the horror of serving as sex slaves of Hamas.

On March 8, International Women’s Day, Canadians for Israel will hold a demonstration to remind Canadians of their plight. Women in "bloodied" pants will appear bound and gagged in a tableau recreating the hostages' appearance on the day they were raped and abducted.

They cannot speak, so we will speak for them. We alert Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly and all Canadians, that Hamas is still raping captive Israelis in Gaza.

Last week, when the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel published indisputable evidence of the "systemic, widespread and sadistic sexual violence" committed by Hamas during the massacre, Min. Joly ignored it, rather than responding with appropriate outrage and calling for justice. Instead, on February 21st she retweeted a libel concocted by the U.N. that falsely accuses IDF soldiers of raping Gazan women.  (See press release of United Nations Human Rights, Office of the High Commissioner.)  This libel is a propaganda tool designed to try to create the illusion of equivalence between the Hamas sadists and the IDF.

Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, has been called "a moral embarrassment" to the U.N. by AmbassadorDeborah Lipstadt, U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, and accused of antisemitism by G7 allies (See @CIJAinfo tweet, Feb. 22. 24.) She is the one responsible for the baseless and despicable claims (See @HillelNeuer's twitter thread addressed to Min. Joly, Feb. 21. 24.)

Our messages to Minister Joly:

  1. Insist that Hamas release the hostages prior to any further negotiations.

  2. Hamas are the rapists; Israelis remain their ongoing victims. Validate and respond to the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel's report.

  3. Delete the malicious tweet, issue a retraction and apologize to Canadians and Israelis.

  4. Do not repeat the mistake of taking at face value anything maligning Israel that comes from the U.N.

Support Legislation Protecting Community Institutions From Protests

Support this request from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA). Call on the government to take urgent action, because the ongoing targeting of Jewish institutions must be stopped. Families entering a synagogue or JCC should never have to face vicious, hateful crowds. UJA is calling on the Government of Ontario to pass a law restricting protests from taking place in close proximity to community institutions—be they houses of worship, community centres, schools, or hospitals.

CAEF presented a proposal to Hon. Michael Kerzner, Solicitor General of Ontario, to pass legislation that protects Jewish institutions and businesses and all places of faith, by restricting protesters to maintain a significant distance from such establishments. Today UJA proposes expressing this idea to the Ontario Attorney General. CAEF supports this measure.

If you agree, please join in emailing Ontario’s Attorney General to ask for this important legislation.

As CIJA points out, “Jews and Canadians, we stand for democracy and freedom—the very values that define Israel. The actions we take should always make it clear we stand against hate and unlawful behaviour from any community.”
