Fighting Antisemitism 2.0: It’s Time to Share Jewish Wisdom
Read the letter from Annette Poizner, Help Us Fight Antisemitism
Four years ago, I began devoting considerable time and energy to fighting antisemitism. Increasingly, I’ve come to a conclusion: We can’t win simply by fighting against antisemitism. We must give the world something to embrace.
I’m entering a competition for a six-episode iHeartRadio podcast, and I’m asking for your support. Here’s why this matters in our fight against Jew hatred.
We need to change the narrative about Jews. Instead of allowing Jewish identity to be defined in the media primarily by conflict, hatred, and persecution, we need to bring forward the extraordinary wisdom of our tradition that can enrich the lives of Jews and non-Jews alike.
This conviction isn’t new for me.
Years ago, I founded the Jewish Health Alliance as a volunteer initiative. Over 11 years, I organized 41 programs bringing Jewish wisdom into conversation with clinical practice, welcoming both Jewish and non-Jewish health professionals. The premise was simple: our tradition contains remarkable insights into human nature, personality, relationships, healing, and the challenges of everyday life. These insights can inform clinical practice, as I’ve demonstrated through extensive writing and presentations. But their usefulness reaches far beyond the consulting room.
Now I want to take that idea to a much larger audience.
I’ve entered a competition to become an iHeartRadio Top Host, with the opportunity to create a six-episode podcast and receive a $25,000 award.
My proposed series, iSee, draws on an original framework I’ve developed from ancient Jewish sources, offering a fresh lens for understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us.
Listeners will discover that Jewish wisdom can help them see familiar aspects of their lives in entirely new ways.
This is fighting antisemitism 2.0.
We cannot only tell the world what is wrong with antisemitism. We must show the world what is wonderful about Jewish insight.
We are called to be a light unto the nations. We have pearls to share. We have the capacity to surprise, inspire and astonish people.
We need to wow them. And we can.
My work has been featured in dailies across Canada, in trade magazines across North America, in Jewish, community and campus press, and at clinical and professional conferences. But now? Hold my beer!
I need your help.
This competition depends on public voting, and I’m asking my friends, colleagues, and the wider Jewish community to support this effort.
Please cast your FREE vote for Annette Poizner and share this appeal with your networks. You can vote once every 24 hours without making a donation.
Let’s bring the wisdom of our tradition into the spotlight, for the benefit of all.
Annette Poizner, MSW, RSW, Ed.D.
