Antisemitism, Racism and Social Justice Movements
Featuring: Raheel Raza
Raheel Raza is a Pakistani-Canadian journalist, public speaker, documentary film maker, media consultant, anti-racism activist, interfaith discussion leader, author of THEIR JIHAD…NOT MY JIHAD. founder of SAMA' (Sacred Arts and Music Alliance), and President of Muslims Facing Tomorrow.
Today we see examples of how movements dedicated to social justice and anti-racist causes are apparently being co-opted by those with another agenda altogether—social upheaval. Groups funded or directed by a range of actors - from global anarchists, Marxists, Leftists, Islamists to Supremacists, often under the guise of a social “good” agenda, are fomenting discord, disrupting civic life, labelling dissenters as bigots and shutting down any discourse.
From infiltration to co-optation, the message is anti-democratic, antisemitic, anti-liberal values. How did we get here?

*****************************************
Jews lived in Anatolia for over two millennia. In the late 15th century, the Ottoman Empire welcomed Jews fleeing the Inquisition in Portugal and Spain. The Republic of Turkey was the first Muslim-majority country to recognize the state of Israel in March 1949. Over the years, the population of Turkey’s Jewish community dwindled to less than 20,000, as a significant portion immigrated to Israel, Europe, or North America. Although Turkey and Israel enjoyed close political, economic, and cultural ties for decades, bilateral relations began to deteriorate with the rise of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s Islamist-rooted Justice and Development Party (AKP) to power in 2002. Under Erdoğan’s increasingly authoritarian rule, state-sanctioned antisemitism and scapegoating of religious minorities have led to a rise in hate speech and hate crimes.

The Iranian Regime and COVID-19 Antisemitism
Featuring: Alireza Nader,
Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies
Nader, a Farsi-speaking, researcher and political analyst is an expert on Iran and the Islamic Republic’s systematic repression of religious freedom and freedom of speech, and its lack of human rights and equality for women, for LGBTQ folks and for its critics.
While the Iranian regime was aware of the COVID-19 virus as early as last November, the regime did nothing to prepare its health system, nor the general population. Far easier and better for the Mullahs to let the people suffer and then blame America for its tough sanctions, the Europeans for not rushing to meet its demands, or the Israelis for supposedly creating this virus to control the world.
Learn about the imaginative, if not so novel, lies that have been forthcoming from the regime. Jews have been blamed for every man-made and natural disaster since time immemorial, but Iran has it down to an art. From denying the Holocaust to calling Israel a Nazi regime, to claiming its people will not access any Zionist developed vaccine, antisemitism is fodder for the Islamic regime.
Alireza Nader has a BA in political science and an MA in International Relations. His publications have appeared in the Washington Post, New York Times, Bloomberg and other press. He also serves on the Anti-Defamation League’s Task Force on Middle East Minorities.
The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) was founded shortly after the attacks by jihadists on American soil in September 2011.
