Remembering the Holocaust, without the Jews
This story by Dr. Rafael Madoff in Israel365News, January 21, 2026 requires everyone’s attention. With annual Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th, being an official day endorsed by the UN to remember the genocide of the Jews of Europe, to be commemorated in every country, it really is an abomination that educators in the US, the BBC in the UK and Putin, have chosen not to mention Jews at all in their Holocaust Remembrance initiiatves.
Read the UN Resolution, as reported in Wikipedia (not our greatest friend) and then read the story about the forgetting that is being memorialized.
“Resolution 60/7, adopted by the General Assembly on 1 November 2005, established 27 January as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The resolution urges every member nation of the UN to honor the memory of Holocaust victims, six million Jews, "one third of the Jewish people, along with countless members of other minorities," and encourages the development of educational programs about Holocaust history to help prevent future acts of genocide. It rejects any denial of the Holocaust as an event and condemns all manifestations of religious intolerance, incitement, harassment or violence against persons or communities based on ethnic origin or religious belief. It also calls for actively preserving the Holocaust sites that served as Nazi death camps, concentration camps, forced labor camps and prisons, as well as for establishing a UN programme of outreach and mobilization of society for Holocaust remembrance and education.[3]”
In Canada, there are many community Remembrance events scheduled across the country. This is not an exhaustive list, but one shared by Allies for a Strong Canada, with this introduction: “As Allies, our voice and presence matter. By attending a local event or joining an online observance, we send a clear message: we refuse to stay silent, we reject hatred and double standards, and we stand firmly with the Jewish community against this plague. “
CAEF Legal Update
Rejected NDP Candidate Yves Gabriel ENGLER Found Guilty on Three Charges in Montreal
At the Montreal Palais de Justice, Canadians experienced a rare movement of justice on Friday January 23, when Quebec Court Judge Karin Giguere found one of Canada’s leading left-wing antisemites, Yves Engler, guilty of obstruction of a police officer, attempting to obstruct justice, and criminal harassment. The official charging document is here:

Engler has behaved as a hateful common nuisance since his student days at Concordia University, when he successfully managed to get himself expelled in 2004 for his role in a series of assaults, acts of harassment and vandalism at Concordia University during a visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Montreal campus. 2005 CanLII 20097 (QC CS) | Engler c. Université Concordia | CanLII
Some of Engler’s weird obsession with Canadian Jews includes a gimlet-eyed focus on the demographic composition of the Montreal suburb of Hampstead QC, his obsessive-compulsive use of the term “genocidal Jewish supremacist” as invective against anyone he doesn’t like, his fixation with “Death to the IOF” and his peculiar musings of the power and influence of “Canadian Jewry”. CAEF President, Michael Teper's letter to 7 members of the NDP Caucus re Yves Engler's NDP Leadership Candidacy--A Racist Threat to Canadian Democracy, July 10, 2025
Engler has recently unsuccessfully attempted to enter the national New Democratic Party of Canada leadership race. The party’s vetting committee declined his candidacy. Some of CAEF’s correspondence with the NDP’s Chief Electoral Officer is here.

This time around, Engler was originally accused of criminal harassment against prominent Zionist author and speaker Dahlia Kurtz. When Detective Francesca Anna Crivello of the Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal telephoned Engler on February 18, 2025 to apprise him of the investigation and requested him to report to a police station the following day to be arrested, he came up with the notion that it would be a great idea to instruct his tens of thousands of social media followers to write pre-formed email to the detective, demanding that she stop investigating him and withdraw the charge. Using his multiple social media channels, Engler circulated and promoted a form letter that stated, in part: “The arrest of author Yves Engler for social media posts opposing Israel’s genocide is an abuse of state power. The charges against the father of two young children should be immediately withdrawn.”
His followers did what he told them to do, and the next morning the detective’s email inbox was flooded with over 1,600 messages. The judge ruled (a) Engler knew that Crivello was a police officer, (b) counselled his social media followers to send a form-letter email to Crivello, and (c) knew or should have anticipated that counselling his followers to send the form letter would result in this large volume of messages, the receipt of which impeded Crivello in the execution of her duties.
Last week, on January 15, 2026, Engler instructed his followers to infiltrate a comedy night at Toronto’s Prosserman Jewish Community Center and “mess the event up” (1) Yves Engler on X: "@SMohyeddin Rally out front. But also one or more need to get inside & mess the event up. This can’t continue without serious disruption" / X
Engler has up to February 22, 2026 to file an appeal with the Quebec Superior Court. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 5, 2026. CAEF intends to file a Community Impact Statement at his sentencing hearing, arguing that his obstruction of Detective Crivello was part of a pattern of behavior of intimidation and mischief targeting members of Canada’s Jewish community.

Stop Defending Israel
Rabbi Elie Mischel explains the failure of offering facts and defense against all accusations heaved at Israel, in the words of the late Ze’ev Jabotinsky, who responded to the question of what we should do when facing antisemitic screeds: “Jabotinsky saw what was happening and was frustrated by the naivete of his fellow Jews. They actually believed that if they could just explain why the accusations were false, the antisemitism would go away. They had it backwards. As Jabotinsky explained: “The reason that we are not liked is not because all kinds of accusations are leveled against us: no, they level accusations against us because they do not like us.” The hatred came first. The accusations were just the excuse.”

Recent Events that Bring Truth to Light
Read article in National Post, by Dave Gordon, January 21,2026 about Eli Sharabi’s Toronto presentation at Chabad Bayview. Sharabi has published the first book by a hostage survivor to inform the world, to bring the message of surviving with faith, living with meaning, talking for personal preservation, and educating others.

Read Michael Horovitz in The Times of Israel, January about the recent visit of Israeli comedian Guy Hochman to Toronto. He endured a 6 hour delay at the airport for questioning following a complaint by an anti-Israel organization. The Israeli consulate intervened. He was able to perform for the UJA event but faced intensely hostile protesters outside.

Zoom on Sunday February 15th at 7 pm Eastern Time for an important update on antisemitism/antisemitism from nationally acclaimed author and expert on antisemitism, Dr. Andrew Pessin. Register here.
Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College and was for many years Campus Bureau Editor for The Algemeiner. He also most recently founded the Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism. Author of many academic articles and books as well as works of philosophy for a general audience, his books include Israel Breathes, World Condemns (2 vols.); Refuting the Lies Told About Israel; Anti-Zionism on Campus: The University, Free Speech, and BDS; Poisoning the Wells: Antisemitism in America; and The Jewish God Question: What Jewish Thinkers Have Said About God, the Book, the People, and the Land. His articles address many aspects of the campus environment for Jews and for Israel supporters, including the question of whether anti-Zionism is antisemitism (the short answer is that it is). Most recently he has been producing a weekly ten-minute podcast on the highlights (and lowlights) of that week’s campus antisemitism, available via his substack. He has also published four novels, including Nevergreen (2021), an academic satire about campus cancel culture and its deleterious effects on the Jews which, unfortunately, proved prophetic when campuses exploded against Israel and the Jews after the October 7 massacre. His most recent novel, Bright College Years (2024), is about how colleges used to be before they all went crazy.
