Canadians Must Demand Action to Prevent Radicalization

The brutal murder in Washington D.C. of two Israeli Embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday evening was not just an attack on two innocent lives, it was an act of terror on the Jewish community and Israel.
CAEF extends our deepest condolences to the families of Yaron and Sarah, a young couple whose future was stolen by an act of hatred. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and with the global Jewish community that continues to endure the consequences of rampant antisemitism.
While this occurred in the United States, it has an alarming message for Jews in Canada and in all Western countries. We are not safe. We are easily exposed. Radical jihadists are in our communities. There are no preventive programs, only responses and temporary fixes.
Governments at all levels must take decisive steps to confront the rising tide of antisemitism and anti-Zionism that has infiltrated our campuses, our communities, and our country. We are not interested in statements of remorse, regret, consolation, not even compassion. We want action!
Universities have failed to effectively address the growing spread of anti-Zionism and antisemitism on campus by faculty and students. The K-12 classroom in many instances has become a barrier to effective learning in its attempt to teach leftist ideology, and turn every aspect of learning into a race-based exercise, while denying equality of support to all individuals and pushing identity politics at all levels.
When professors use their classrooms to brainwash thousands of students on our campuses, are we surprised that words turn into weapons? When administrators waffle about condemning blatant antisemitism visible to all on their campuses, refuse to adopt and implement IHRA, and employ individuals with contemptible records of antisemitism, then we can not assume these are safe places for Jewish students or faculty.
WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? DO WE NEED ANOTHER MURDER TO WAKE UP MAYOR CHOW, PREMIER FORD, PRIME MINISTER CARNEY?
We have ignored the warning signs for too long. May the memories of Yaron and Sarah be a blessing.
