CAEF Letter to Mississauga Mayor and Council re Hate Preachers Booked to Speak in the City
October 1, 2026
Mayor Carolyn Parrish and City Council City of Mississauga
Dear Mayor Parrish and Council,
It has come to our attention that an advertised event to be held at the International Centre in Mississauga features two individuals who have documented histories of making remarks that are discriminatory, antisemitic, and harmful to the community of Jews and non-Jews in your city.

See information below about Dr. Sami Hamdi and Tareq Al-Suwaidan whose past presentations are clearly contrary to Mississauga’s anti-discriminatory policies and Ontario’s Human Rights Code. We believe their discriminatory remarks will accentuate hatred and divisiveness in your city and beyond.
An event in Toronto held at Exhibition Place a few months ago, led to the sharing of the phrase, “Jew Free” in response to a question about the sort of society that people want in Canada. This type of intolerant, antisemitic rhetoric is a concern and it might recur at the above noted event.

CAEF looks to all Council Members to take steps to prevent the dissemination of hate.
We look forward to your earliest response.
Sincerely, Andria Spindel, Executive Director Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation
