Learn Facts, Take Action | CAEF Bulletin – October 16, 2026
Ottawa just pledged another $100 million for the Palestinian territories. It hasn't said who gets it, how it will be tracked or what stops Hamas from getting it
Canadians shouldn’t have to put up with terrorist hate rallies in our streets, such as the ones that took place last week on the anniversary of the Hamas massacre.
Canadian taxpayers shouldn’t have to fund activists who use “art” to glorify terrorists and celebrate violence.
And Canadians shouldn’t have to send another $100 million to the Palestinians—certainly so long as Hamas is armed and in control. If you agree, add your name. Until it does, not one

Legal Update
1. Syed Sham RAZA Charged with Arson, Mischief over $5,000
Syed Raza was charged with three offences in connection with the destruction by fire of approximately six hundred flags of Israel that were installed on the front lawn of the Word of Faith International Christian Centre in Toronto last week. Pastor John Ward announced that the church replaced the destroyed flags with double the original number and told CBC News “We will continue to stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”

Raza was previously charged with public incitement of hatred in connection with statements he made at an anti-Israel counterprotest. This charge was withdrawn by the Crown before trial in exchange for an 18-month common law peace bond that required him to “keep the peace and be of good behaviour”. For allegedly committing this new offence, Raza was further charged with breach of the common law peace bond.
The conditions of his release prohibit Raza from attending within 100 metres of the Prosserman Jewish Community Centre at 4600 Bathurst St., Toronto.

2. Edmonton AB Police Charge Abdimalik JAMA, 29, for Attack on Israel Tent at Edmonton Heritage Festival
Edmonton AB police charged Jama in connection with an August 3, 2026 incident where he allegedly climbed the exterior fence of the Edmonton Heritage Festival and sliced open the Israel tent with a knife he was carrying.
He was arrested on the spot by Edmonton Police and has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions not to possess knives or other edged weapons. Edmonton Police stated that its Hate Crimes Unit had completed an investigation and determined that there were no grounds to charge Jama with a crime motivated by hate.
3. ALCCA Chair Mark Sandler Provides Comprehensive Update on Recent Case Law
Mark Sandler, Chair of the Alliance of Canadians Combating Antisemitism (an umbrella group that includes CAEF) published today an update that includes significant extracts from the judgment in R. v Arthur Colin Roberts (Victoria BC) on which we commented in last week’s Bulletin.
Key Takeaways:
--> The increase of antisemitism in Canada is relevant to sentencing for antisemitic hate crimes and judges may take judicial notice of this trend of criminality in society.
--> The defendant’s political convictions is not an excuse. “A person’s sincere conviction that a political cause is just does not provide a licence to damage property, threaten others, or otherwise engage in criminal conduct in pursuit of that cause.” In other words, the era of the “Free Palestine Activist” exception from Canadian criminal law is over.
--> The defendant’s claim that he has mental health issues is not a defence or an automatic mitigating factor in sentencing. “Where mental disorder is invoked as a true mitigating consideration that significantly reduces moral culpability, there must be evidence that demonstrates, on a balance of probabilities, that mental illness caused or contributed to the commission of the offence”.
Mr. Sandler also provides a detailed analysis on the Government of Canada’s Second Progress Report on Canada’s National Commitments to Combat Antisemitism.
The report is significant because it explicitly identifies antizionism as a contemporary manifestation of antisemitism.
4. Upcoming Trials at the Ontario Court House 10 Armoury Street Toronto
(Court times and courtroom assignments to be announced on Ontario Court Dates at 8:00 AM the day before each trial)
(a) Shahrez Bin Salman HYDRI – October 26, 2026

5. GoFundMe Fundraiser for Injured Belleville Constable Jeffrey Smith Nears $950,000; for Constable Mike McCurdy $54,000; for the Sons of Jacob Synagogue $100,000.
Members of Canada’s Jewish community, their friends allies and the public have raised almost $950,000. A parallel fundraiser for Constable Michael McCurdy, who was not injured in the encounter with the deceased homicidal assailant against the Sons of Jacob Synagogue, has raised approximately $54,000. A fundraiser for the Sons of Jacob Synagogue has raised over $100,000. Donations continue to be solicited and welcomed.
While CAEF believes that these fundraisers are administered with transparency and integrity, CAEF is not involved with their management and does not make representations as to how the funds are to be applied.
Advocacy and Action
Read Letter from Richard Sherman, Florida, to Voicers at NY Daily News, pointing out that Voicer John A. Mackinnon ignores the fact that Arabs have rejected every offer of an independent state for Palestine since 1937 and their only “two state solution,” is free of Jews, October 11, 2026.
Read Letter from Canadian students and alumni against antisemitism to Brian Thomson, CEO of the Montreal General Hospital Foundation, following up on their documented complaint against McGill Professor David Juncker whose social media profile is full of vile antisemitic, antizionist postings, and suggesting the foundation cancel a monetary award and distance itself from him, October 12, 2026. The letter has been cc’d to media and Jewish organizations including CAEF.
Zionism is Antisemitism, Presented by CAEF, in Hamilton
On Wednesday October 14, Andria Spindel, Executive Director of CAEF and Michael Teper, President, had the opportunity to be speakers at the inaugural community event presented by Zionism Unfiltered (ZU), a new organization in the city of Hamilton. Volunteers developed an organization focused on Zionism in Action, that will offer thoughtful discussions, powerful speakers and be “done playing defence,” the organizing committee reached out to CAEF. Approximately 50 people and were very engaged.
After viewing CAEF’s presentation, The Shalom Project, the ZU Committee asked for a presentation on the latest iteration of Jew hatred, Antizionism. Spindel accommodated this and organized material, both historical and current, educating viewers about Zionism, Antizionism, the Red-Green Alliance, the dedication of Hamas and the PLO to the elimination of Jews and how that is playing out globally.
Actions to combat antizionism were presented, including use of the IHRA working definition of antisemitism. This and other tactics were highlighted by Teper who has considerable experience in filing formal legal, professional and criminal complaints, as well as freedom of information requests, and delivering community impact statements. CAEF offered to support ZU, to guide actions, review material and partner where appropriate.
Attendance at this first of 3 Fall programs was truly heartening. People were eager to be educated and to collaborate, and CAEF looks forward to seeing Zionism in action.

Settler Violence? Regavim Meets with UN Officials to Set the Record Straight
IMPORTANT: Regavim’s investigation found that ONLY 1 Arab death can be attributed to “settler violence.” Read the article (use Google translate to convert from Hebrew to English) by Meir Deutsch, CEO of Regavim.
Note that Arabs in Judea and Samaria are responsible for many more deaths of Jews during the same reporting period, and the data at the UN is entirely skewed against Israel. The data includes student trips as “settler violence,” Jews visiting the Temple Mount as “settler violence,” Jews defending themselves from Arab attacks as “settler violence.”

More Lies: Palestinian Poverty in Judea and Samaria
Regavim took a photographer into Judea and Samaria and shared these photos of “Palestinian Arab” homes.

A HOMECOMING 2,700 YEARS IN THE MAKING
An extraordinary homecoming is unfolding in Israel! At this year’s Feast of Tabernacles, nearly 3,000 Christians rose to their feet in applause as 80 members of the Bnei Menashe community were welcomed in Jerusalem. Tracing their heritage to the ancient tribe of Manasseh, these families have held onto their dream of returning to Israel for generations. Through Operation Wings of Dawn, the ICEJ helped bring 100 new immigrants’ home in April 2026, with hundreds more preparing to follow.
Israel Truth Network
Lies about Israel and the Jews abound. One can spend the day providing information, responding, challenging, rebutting, denying. It seems pretty obvious that Jew haters are not particularly interested in the truth, especially if it contradicts their “ideology,” or deeply held beliefs. Much of this is embedded in the woke view of the world, in progressivism, in Critical Race Theory and its application in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, deeply flawed and shallow paradigm for understanding the world. It is binary and assumes that people who are less fortunate than “Others” have no agency, responsibility, or capacity to change their situation. It is blame, blame, blame and who better to blame than the Jews.
Can Jews be blamed for someone being too short, too heavy, or too bald—or for the rain, hail, and pests in one’s garden?
To tackle the lies, Israel365 has created the Israel Truth Network and posts the lies and the truth with substantive back up information.
Read today’s lie: On October 13, 2026, former President Barack Obama claimed that Jews seeking refuge in the Land of Israel stole land from Arabs.

CAEF Advocate Award of Excellence
Honouring Dr. Brian Crowley — Tuesday, October 27
You are warmly invited to an evening to honour Brian Lee Crowley, a distinguished thought leader whose work has brought a focus on the critical issues of antisemitism, the Middle East, radical Islam and more to the heart of Canada’s national conversation.
Brian Crowley founded the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies (AIMS), and the Macdonald Laurier Institute (MLI).
MLI is the premier Canadian public policy think tank, addressing a wide array of national issues and, through the Promised Land Project, the related issues of Middle East conflict, antisemitism and the dangers of radical Islam. Crowley initiated the Promised Land Project on the premise that Canada is a land that has held out the promise of freedom and security to millions around the world and should be held to account for its failure to live up to this promise to its Jewish citizens.
MLI is also the only Canadian think tank with an office in Washington, the Center for North American Prosperity and Security (CNAPS).
Brian Crowley is author of six books, notably Gardeners vs Designers and Fearful Symmetry, and numerous op-eds and research papers. He holds degrees from McGill and the London School of Economics, including a doctorate in political economy.
