His Excellency
Emmanuel Macron
President of France
Dear President Macron,
Press reports state that France will recognize Palestine at the fall session of the United Nations. I hope that your recognition will influence Palestine to live in peace with Israel rather than continue to reject its existence.
I also hope that France will influence Palestine to reform its culture which at present is built around the indoctrination of its children to yearn for martyr's deaths while killing hated Israeli Jews. One hopes that the beautiful nurturing French culture will convince the Palestinians to love their children, not use them as weapons against Israel.
There is one other sensitive matter with which you can be of enormous assistance to Palestine, and that is policing the West Bank to stop terrorist acts by Iranian influenced and financed gangs which at present the PA police are unable to handle, forcing Israel to step in to stop the attacks. Perhaps you and the other nations planning to recognize Palestine can station police units in the West Bank to stop Palestinian terrorist groups from carrying out their missions. Eliminating Israel from having to do the policing will reduce the criticism of Israel for occupying the West Bank that one hopes will lead to a lessening of hatred of Israel in Palestinian hearts and in international forums.
I am sure you are aware that the role of guarantor bears with it a huge responsibility, none more important than keeping Hamas from taking over “Palestine” and turning it into a nation of martyrs. This will not be easy because over 70% of Palestinians prefer Hamas over the Palestinian Authority, the group that your recognition will cement into power, which alas, opens up the possibility of a civil war.
The whole world hopes that France and the other countries with which it is collaborating on the Palestine recognition will bring peace to the Middle East, not create conditions for the acceleration of the war.
Respectfully yours,
Larry Shapiro, Calgary
