Letter from Richard Sherman to the Editor, The Guardian, re Ed Miliband's Appeasement of Hamas

Dear Editor,

Ed Miliband's appeasement of Hamas and its supporters and the Palestinian Authority and its supporters — both of whose unrevoked enabling documents demand the Hitlerian genocide of the Jewish people of Israel — is no different than Neville Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler.

("Call it the Miliband Doctrine. Let's Hope the New Israeli Settlement Boycott is Just the Start", Steven Bloomfield)

Miliband's emulation of Neville Chamberlain requires him to make a joke of Britain's signature on international treaties. Remember Chamberlain waving that worthless white piece of paper. Britain was an original signatory to the United Nations Charter. That signature is a Miliband travesty now. Article 80 of the United Nations Charter incorporates by reference the 1922 League of Nations Mandate for Palestine. (Didn't Britain sign that? Two for two in worthless Miliband/British signatures.)

Article 80 declares that all of what is Israel including Judea and Samaria is the 3,500-year-old indigenous RECONSTITUTED homeland of the Jewish people, and the land is sovereign Jewish territory. Ethical? When it comes to destroying Britain's credibility on international treaties — including the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine and the United Nations Charter — Miliband doesn't know how to spell ethical. Of course, Miliband's foundational unethical conduct in destroying Britain's credibility on international treaties seems to focus on Jews. Hardly a coincidence. It demonstrates that he and every member of his party are Zionophobic.

In 2025, UCLA Professor Judea Pearl, the Chancellor's Professor of Computer Science and Statistics and the Director of the UCLA Cognitive Systems Laboratory, and Daniel Pearl's father, wrote in his seminal treatise on Zionophobia, Coexistence and Other Fighting Words:

"Zionophobia — the absolute denial of Israel's right to exist — became normalized, mainstream, and even respectable in Western discourse, precisely at Israel's moment of greatest vulnerability..."

"...but the post-October 7 attacks were different. This time they were driven by a wholehearted desire for Israel's demise — with all its genocidal implications. The scent of blood, it seems, triggered a hunger for more. Hordes of predators emerged from the ideological tunnels, rushing to indict, sentence, and lynch Israel in the finest tradition of herd madness."

See: "Coexistence and Other Fighting Words. Epilogue: The Crater of October 7", Judea Pearl, 2025, page 144.

As a proud supporter of BDS, Miliband embraces Omar Barghouti, the founder of BDS, who over 20 years ago said the sole purpose of BDS is the euthanasia of Israel. As students of history, Barghouti and Miliband both know that the Nazi T4 Euthanasia Program was the foundation of the Final Solution of the Jews.

Since Miliband is committed to the euthanasia of Israel... Article 80, notwithstanding Miliband's Zionophobic myopia, declares Judea and Samaria part of Israel; there is no doubt that he and his party embrace Zionophobia as foundational to their politics. Ethical? Give me a break!
