Letter from Richard Sherman to McGill U president inquiring as to continued employment if Professor William Claire Roberts who posts support for Hamas, and terrorism against Jews

Dear McGill President Deep Saini:

McGill political science Professor William Claire Roberts by his recent very public social media post has made clear that he supports EVERYTHING Hamas:

“I used to think BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) was a good idea, though; nothing short of 'full economic and military support for Hamas and Hezbollah' is appropriate." ("Concern Mounts After Professor on McGill's Student Discipline Committee Calls for Support to Hamas", Montreal Gazette, Harry North, 8/28/25)

As a political scientist, Professor Roberts is fully aware that Hamas exists solely within the four squares of it charter and the UNREVOKED Article 7 of its charter requires every supporter of Hamas like Professor Roberts to murder every Jew on earth. Israel is not mentioned in Article 7.

With Professor Roberts' documented and public full commitment to the antisemitic genocidal charter of Hamas, it would seem that you face a dilemma.

In this world in which young people in particular lap up on social media every indiscretion of a professor, Professor Roberts very public embrace of the murder of every Jew on earth will certainly be a focus of campus attention.

More importantly, should you allow on your campus a professor whose very public pedagogy embraces Jew killing, an antisemitic genocidal pedagogy which he clearly imparts on social media and more than likely in the Student Discipline Committee, in the classroom and elsewhere to impressionable students?

It certainly is a dilemma.
