Letter from Ruth Abrams to Prime Minister Mark Carney questioning his decision to encourage investment from Qatar in Canada, further risking the undermining of Canadian values, January 26, 2026

Dear Prime Minister Carney,

Why are we actively inviting Qatar to further infiltrate Canadian values through dubious investment strategies?

Qatar,  as a key financial supporter of Hamas, openly funds terrorism and allows Hamas billionaire warlords to live in luxury in Doha. In effect, Qatar, with Iran, has unleashed an unholy war in Gaza.

Qatar’s open support of Hamas has already permeated Canadian life to the point that violent Jew-hatred has become normalized, and growing support of Hamas itself seem to have become normalized to the point that Police are not able to stop open Jew-baiting and vicious demonstrations in front of schools and places of worship.

Qatar’s government openly violates its own people’s human rights and allows no opposition party, but has been allowed to finance and influence Canadian universities, to name a few, McGill, University of Waterloo, and the University of Ottawa. Hamas supporters have infiltrated Canadian Universities, schools, and institutions like the CBC.

Canadian values are Canada’s future. Any more Qatari “investment” in Canada can only prove catastrophic.
