CAEF Continues to Hold Haters and Authorities Accountable.
Much as we want to, we cannot eliminate antisemitism in Canada. What we can do, and do every day, is make the public expression of antisemitism (1) expensive, (2) risky, (3) career-terminating, and (4) potentially involve a criminal record and jail time.
We also hold officials at all levels and branches of government publicly accountable when they fail through act or omission to uphold and enforce the equal citizenship rights of Jewish Canadians and/or Israeli Canadians.
On Sunday August 30, we took our message directly to the community at Bathurst St. And Sheppard Avenue in Toronto, with a hired pixel truck that highlighted the crimes and sentences of a dozen Ontario residents convicted of antisemitic hate crimes or other crimes motivated by antisemitism. In the pixel truck display, we also informed the community of the release conditions of two of the Bathurst Street "East Side" regulars who have been charged with public incitement of hatred and willful promotion of hatred against Jews and/or Israeli-Canadians.
The story has gained traction in the Jerusalem Post.
We will be resuming our "truck operations" after High Holidays, equipping the truck that will displays featuring several instances of members of the Ontario College of Teachers forfeiting their licenses for antisemitic activity inside and outside the classroom, and summarizing the outcome of the York Regional Police probe into the "Project Olive Branch" debacle at the Toronto Police Service.

In light of the failure to act immediately on the recent report by Justice Mary Lou Bennoto outlining the state of antisemitism at the Toronto Metropolitan University and recommending remedial action, 10 lawyers signed a motion that the LSO asking that the Law School's accreditation be removed.
CAEF Endorses Call to Law Society of Ontario to Waive Its Deadline for Filing a Motion and Consider the Motion to Remove Accreditation of Lincoln Alexander School of Law.
This petition is directed at Ontario licensed lawyers, members of the LSO.

Legal Update
Keiosha ROSS -- Convicted of Uttering Threat to Cause Bodily Harm, Sentenced to Nineteen Days Jail
In last week's CAEF Bulletin, we reported on the sentencing hearing of Keiosha Ross, who was found guilty of threatening an assistant Crown attorney in a courthouse elevator that she would rip off the prosecutor's "big Jewish nose".
Justice Jason Little of the Ontario Court of Justice found that the defendant's erratic behavior during the trial and sentencing hearing was indicative of mental illness and therefore concluded that the defendant, though guilty of the offence, had diminished moral blameworthiness.
Justice Little sentenced Ross to nineteen days jail, against which he credited Ross for 18 days' worth of pre-trial custody (i.e., 12 days of pre-trial custody multiplied by the standard 1.5 credit ratio).
Justice Little emphasised in his reasons that he recognized the threats as being hate-motivated, and that "The sentence should not be mistaken as softness on hate crimes directed at the Jewish community or any other community."
Ross continues to face charges for indecent exposure, stemming from her behavior during the sentencing hearing.

Ontario 2026 Municipal Election -- Information about Candidates and Reader Actions

The "Promised Land" Promotes Enforcement of Canadian Laws
CAEF brings the Promised Land project of the Macdonald Laurier Institute to readers' attention. In the latest essay, MLI notes the failure of the Canadian government to protect its Jewish communities and to bring justice to the Jews. An article by Mark Sandler, Peter Copeland and Sheryl Saperia, published on September 3, 2026, asks why the government doesn't use the tools at its disposal, the laws against antisemitism, hate speech, and support for terror to address the problem with seriousness and severity.
Most importantly, while addressing the various legal options for varying crimes, the article poses significant recommendations. The essay concludes with this opening sentence, "Peace, order, and good government is the promise upon which this country was founded. It is not a slogan but an obligation..."
This essay is a must read.
ECI at the EU
In a press release issued by the European Coalition for Israel on August 23, 2026, ECI states:
"Janez Janša was elected as the new Prime Minister of Slovenia. Within weeks of the new government taking office, Janša announced that he would reverse the previous government's anti-Israel policies and instead stand with Israel. In demonstrating his position, he blocked the adoption of a joint statement by the EU Foreign Ministers on 23 August, which sought to unanimously condemn Israel for announcing a plan to build houses in the strategic E1 area located between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adummim in Judea.
"Speaking to the European Jewish Press on Friday, ECI Founding Director Tomas Sandell commended Janša for his stance, reiterating that "standing up for Israel and the Jewish people has always been a minority position in Europe". He added that "the current controversy surrounding the E1 corridor is trying to negate Israel's claim to Jerusalem as its undivided and eternal capital, promised to it under international law in San Remo in 1920."
Sandell laments new sanctions by Ireland against Israel and the decidedly unfair sanctions being discussed/adopted by European governments and is obsession with the notion of a Palestinian State, against all interests and legitimate claims by Israel.
DARA Highlights Campus Antisemitism
Doctors Against Racism and Antisemitism issued the following:
"A recent Globe and Mail editorial delivers a powerful indictment of the growing anti-Semitism on Canadian university campuses—and we strongly agree with its opening words: "A school that isn't safe for all of its students is a failing school." [Find the article here - paywall protected.] Drawing on two new reports, including a federal survey of 900 Jewish students and an independent review commissioned by Toronto Metropolitan University, the Globe argues that Jewish students are facing a climate of "coercion, vilification and at times, violence." The national report described the inadequate institutional response as an "institutional betrayal," while the TMU review found that the university is failing in its legal and moral responsibility to protect Jewish students and faculty from discrimination, harassment and intimidation. The statistics are deeply troubling. Seventy-one per cent of Jewish students surveyed reported anti-Semitic vandalism, 68 per cent said campus was not safe and inclusive for Jews, 54 per cent reported intimidation or threats and 22 per cent reported physical violence directed at Jews. Eighty-four per cent said antisemitism is a serious problem on campus. Even more revealing, 72 per cent said they limit what they say about being Jewish in class. The Globe urges readers to 'listen to their voices.' Crucially, the editorial takes aim at attempts to minimize or dismiss these experiences, arguing the seemingly obvious point that Jewish students deserve the same credibility afforded to other groups when they describe discrimination and fear. It highlights Mary Lou Benotto's conclusion that redefining Zionism to encompass genocide—and treating anyone who does not actively support anti-Zionism as culpable—has "contributed to an environment that has enabled antisemitism to flourish." "The Globe's call to action is exactly right: 'No blueprint is needed, just a spine.'"
