CANADIAN ANTISEMITISM EDUCATION FOUNDATION IS RESOURCEFUL, CONFRONTATIVE, COLLABORATIVE, CREATIVE, AND HAS NO STAFF COSTS
After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, join the movement dedicated to giving – GivingTuesday. On Tuesday, December 1st, 2020
Please make a contribution to CAEF and help us counter Antisemitism through Education while building pride and resilience. Since April we have provided regular Webinars and Bulletins, introduced over a dozen significant speakers to a mostly Canadian audience, challenged intolerance and prejudice about Israel and the Jewish people, and spoken out on Israeli sovereignty and legal rights. We are unabashedly Zionist!
CAEF Celebrated San Remo 100 and Honoured Jacques Gauthier with an Outstanding Cast
Tears of joy, heartfelt expressions of love and admiration were shared with Dr. Jacques Gauthier and his family, all of whom were present at the November 25th, 90 minute webinar coordinated by our Task Force of Shirley Anne Haber, Anita Bromberg and Andria Spindel. Featuring Lewis Mitz as emcee, and words of wisdom and historical significance from Dr. Charles Small, Michael Diamond, Yifa Segal and Rabbi Daniel Korobkin. Dozens of supporters added their greetings either via video messages or email, and three wonderful talents added beauty and majesty to the event. Thanks to Cantor Simon Spiro, Cantor Tibor Kavori and duo Yonina for donating their time and remarkable talents.
Most importantly, as expressed by all presenters and the Honoree himself, we must learn our Jewish/Israeli history, share it, teach it, defend it and stand strong.
Canada at Last Appoints a Special Envoy on Antisemitism
Quoting from newly appointed Special Envoy on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, Irwin Cotler, as reported in the National Post on November 25th, 2020, “ Anti-Semitism, itself, did not die in Auschwitz. It remains the bloody canary in the mine shaft of global evil today.”
CAEF joins with all Jewish and civil rights organizations in thanking the government for acting now to strengthen its commitment to Never Forgetting and Fighting Antisemitism, and in acknowledging and congratulating the Hon Irwin Cotler for taking on this new role.
Here’s the Special Envoy’s mandate:
Promote Holocaust education, remembrance, and research as we continue working with partners in Canada and around the world to fight against hate and intolerance
Work with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth, and other implicated ministers to inform Government of Canada policy and programming.
Lead the Government of Canada’s delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) which works with member countries and both domestic and international partners to strengthen and promote Holocaust education, remembrance
Cynical about Canada’s Vote at the UN on a resolution for Palestinian self-determination—JOIN the Club!
If you aren’t aware of the recent General Assembly vote on the annual package of 17 anti-Israel resolutions, about which Canada abstained or voted against for 15 years, but this year and last the Federal Government voted in favour of one resolution which includes the following: “the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State of Palestine” and “stressed the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
This one sided and biased motion does not include recognition of the right to self determination of the Jewish people in their independent State of Israel and on reading the preface statements, many are provocatively antagonistic to Israel.
In response, many Jewish and non-Jewish organizations expressed outrage if not just disappointment. None of the despotic, anti-democratic, totalitarian regimes were singled out for approbation, only Israel, a light unto the world.
CAEF sent the letter below to the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and UN Ambassador
Dear Prime Minister Trudeau, Minister Champagne, and Ambassador Rae;
Your vote at the UN on behalf of Canada and against Israel and the Jewish people is shocking, humiliating and undermining of peace in every way.
It serves no purpose to join "the maddening crowd," to be a follower instead of a just and fair leader. Only if you know zero Middle East history, if you deny the fact that Israel is dealing with an unrepentant liar and murderer like Mahmoud Abbas, and if you want to be aligned with tyrannical regimes such as that of Turkey's Erdogan, Iran's Khomeini, Syria's Asad, would you vote against Israel, would one even consider voting against the only democracy in the Middle East and a country that abides by the rule of law. Canada can do better than that, and has in the past.
Are you Mr. Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador completely unaware of the Palestinian Arab leadership’s continuous claims that nothing but the total destruction of Israel will ever satisfy them? Are you ignorant of the fact that after being offered over 90% of the disputed territories and having had at least 6 major peace proposals, the PA will not accept nor negotiate peace? Are you without access to news so you missed the fact that the UAE and Bahrain have normalized relations with Israel and did not require the complete destruction of 500,000 Jewish homes to achieve it? Just where is this land called Palestine and when did it come into being, and why does Canada support fallacious claims of an “occupied territory” when no country but Israel has governed it except for the 19 years of illegal occupation by Jordan?
It seems that Canada at the UN has lost its integrity, lost its conscience, saying absolutely nothing about Abbas's recent statement that he will pay the murdering terrorists who kill Israelis, (Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze) forever! He claims even if the PA have no funds for their people, they will give the last cent to jailed murderers. Where is your moral compass? Why did Canada not stand with Israel and demand the PA act like moral human beings? When the PA teaches all of its children that there is no Israel, that the Jews are devils and that murdering Jews is just fulfilling the work that Hitler didn't quite achieve, where is Canada? Why do you say nothing in that useless court of public opinion, the UN?
Shame on you three whose voices drown out the cries of innocent Israeli children who experience a daily barrage of lies, hatred, bombs from Gaza and knives from Samaria and Judea. Are you aware of all the illegal Arab settlements that are in Area C, the area always designated for future Israeli development and administration? Are you so ill informed that you missed the plan to give the PA about $50billion US to make peace not war, and they have rejected it.
So, what does your voting against the interests of peace, of justice, of fairness, say about Canada-Israel relations, about your government’s view on Jewish civil rights and the rising tide of Jew hatred? AntiZionism by your own acceptance of the IHRA definition includes demonizing Israel and holding it to a double standard. Isn’t Canada’s vote at the UN an example of that double standard?

As more of the insipid antisemitic motions are being put forward, UN Watch launched a campaign to get governments around the world to STOP Voting against Israel; they are focusing on Western democracies.
UN Watch Launches Petition Campaign to Urge Countries to Stop Voting Against Israel
