View the Celebration, Rejoice over the Envoy, Challenge the UN Vote - CAEF Bulletin November 27,2020

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, join the movement dedicated to giving – GivingTuesday. On Tuesday, December 1st, 2020

Please make a contribution to CAEF and help us counter Antisemitism through Education while building pride and resilience. Since April we have provided regular Webinars and Bulletins, introduced over a dozen significant speakers to a mostly Canadian audience, challenged intolerance and prejudice about Israel and the Jewish people, and spoken out on Israeli sovereignty and legal rights. We are unabashedly Zionist!

CAEF Celebrated San Remo 100 and Honoured Jacques Gauthier with an Outstanding Cast

Tears of joy, heartfelt expressions of love and admiration were shared with Dr. Jacques Gauthier and his family, all of whom were present at the November 25th, 90 minute webinar coordinated by our Task Force of Shirley Anne Haber, Anita Bromberg and Andria Spindel. Featuring Lewis Mitz as emcee, and words of wisdom and historical significance from Dr. Charles Small, Michael Diamond, Yifa Segal and Rabbi Daniel Korobkin. Dozens of supporters added their greetings either via video messages or email, and three wonderful talents added beauty and majesty to the event. Thanks to Cantor Simon Spiro, Cantor Tibor Kavori and duo Yonina for donating their time and remarkable talents.

Most importantly, as expressed by all presenters and the Honoree himself, we must learn our Jewish/Israeli history, share it, teach it, defend it and stand strong.

Canada at Last Appoints a Special Envoy on Antisemitism

Quoting from newly appointed Special Envoy on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, Irwin Cotler, as reported in the National Post on November 25th, 2020, “ Anti-Semitism, itself, did not die in Auschwitz. It remains the bloody canary in the mine shaft of global evil today.”

CAEF joins with all Jewish and civil rights organizations in thanking the government for acting now to strengthen its commitment to Never Forgetting and Fighting Antisemitism, and in acknowledging and congratulating the Hon Irwin Cotler for taking on this new role.

Cynical about Canada’s Vote at the UN on a resolution for Palestinian self-determination—JOIN the Club!

If you aren’t aware of the recent General Assembly vote on the annual package of 17 anti-Israel resolutions, about which Canada abstained or voted against for 15 years, but this year and last the Federal Government voted in favour of one resolution which includes the following: “the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State of Palestine” and “stressed the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

This one sided and biased motion does not include recognition of the right to self determination of the Jewish people in their independent State of Israel and on reading the preface statements, many are provocatively antagonistic to Israel.

In response, many Jewish and non-Jewish organizations expressed outrage if not just disappointment. None of the despotic, anti-democratic, totalitarian regimes were singled out for approbation, only Israel, a light unto the world.

CAEF sent the letter below to the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and UN Ambassador

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau, Minister Champagne, and Ambassador Rae;

Your vote at the UN on behalf of Canada and against Israel and the Jewish people is shocking, humiliating and undermining of peace in every way.

It serves no purpose to join "the maddening crowd," to be a follower instead of a just and fair leader. Only if you know zero Middle East history, if you deny the fact that Israel is dealing with an unrepentant liar and murderer like Mahmoud Abbas, and if you want to be aligned with tyrannical regimes such as that of Turkey's Erdogan, Iran's Khomeini, Syria's Asad, would you vote against Israel, would one even consider voting against the only democracy in the Middle East and a country that abides by the rule of law. Canada can do better than that, and has in the past.

Are you Mr. Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador completely unaware of the Palestinian Arab leadership’s continuous claims that nothing but the total destruction of Israel will ever satisfy them? Are you ignorant of the fact that after being offered over 90% of the disputed territories and having had at least 6 major peace proposals, the PA will not accept nor negotiate peace? Are you without access to news so you missed t
