“Students for Justice in Palestine” Attack TMU Jewish Event

TORONTO  – November 5, 2025:  Individuals alleged to be members of the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) student club “Students for Justice in Palestine” forced entry into an event organized by the TMU  student club Students Supporting Israel. It appears that a call was put out to students to stop the IDF soldiers from speaking at a legitimate Jewish student sponosred event that ended up being held at a private off-campus venue because the TMU refused SSI permission to hold their event on campus due to so-called security reasons. This is the third time that such an event was forced off campus by  TMU administration. In both 2023 and 2022,  CAEF became involved and hosted the SSI speakers off site.

Screaming “Free Free Palestine,” one masked protestor broke the glass door entrance to the venue and injured one of the guest speakers, an IDF veteran on a North American speaking tour.

The bitter irony of this event taking place during the days leading up to the November 9 anniversary of Kristallnacht – the Night of the Broken Glass – is not lost on us.  Since 2021 attacks on Jewish  properties and individuals have escalated, including the plastering of antisemitic slogans and posters with paint and  glue on the windows of the main Indigo bookstore in Toronto, shooting at a girls's school, smashing windows at a synagogue and the annual BDS hatefest called Anti-Israel Apartheid Week on Toronto campuses.  The bitter irony of this event taking place during the days leading up to the November 9 anniversary of Kristallnacht – the Night of the Broken Glass – is not lost on us with the smashing of glass at the venue where Jewish university students hold an event.

SSI’s Founder and President Ilan Sinelnikov posted that the tour with 2 IDF soldiers will continue and to reach as many campuses as possible, especially where Jewish students feel isolated and intimidated.

CAEF demands the SJP rioters be held accountable and the TMU administration revisit its discriminatory policies of keeping Jewish events off campus, failing to provide campus security, allowing SJP to operate as a student club and never calling out and holding the haters accountable.

We demand that the justice system take these crimes seriously, that the Crown not decide to drop the charges after a year’s delay and a dozen preliminary court appearances, and that if the accused are found guilty, that sentences be imposed that reflect the gravity of the crimes and have effective denunciatory and deterrent force.

In the words of Rabbi Jarrod Grover of Beth Tikvah Congregation in Toronto, our community’s dignity is not negotiable, our safety is not optional, and history forbids us from remaining silent in the face of this hostility.

Advocacy and Action

Jewish organizations call for an apology, investigation and resignation of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. Following her fallacious, biased statements at the NCCM (National Council of Canadian Muslims) event, November 1st, at which Mayor Chow unilaterally declared there is a genocide happening in Gaza, the Jewish community rose up to condemn this talk and hold the Mayor accountable. It is words like this that harm the Jewish community, increase divisiveness and empower Jew haters to increase their actions which can lead to violence. Shame on Mayor Chow!

Note the false analogy on the poster in the background,” From Selma to Gaza”, implying this is a human rights issue to save Gazans. It is the opposite, again proving the new antisemitism is antizionism, and the perpetrators cloak their hatred in human rights.

Tafsik Organization has filed a Human Rights Tribunal complaint against Mayor Olivia Chow for publicly promulgating a blood libel against the Jewish ancestral homeland, an outright attack on our people, our identity and our Zionism.

Read two articles published November 3rd in National Post and The Toronto Sun, referencing CAEF’s press release.

CAEF filed a complaint against the City of Mississauga for approving a Palestine flag raising event on December 7, 2025. We have requested information on who authorized this event and advised that at least some of the 18 listed pro-Palestine/anti-Israel organizations have been shown to support terrorist entities.

AntiZionism is Jew Hatred

Arguments that antizionism is antisemitism rely on classical about Jews now applied to Israel, as “the new Jew.”

Adam Louis-Klein, a PhD candidate at McGill University cogently argues that the new “antisemitism” is actually missinga “third term,” since ” it operates with a new vocabulary—colonizer, apartheid, genocide-that encodes a systematic assault on Jewish collective identity/” This new way of conceptualizing antiZionism gives us a new paradigm for fighting it. On November 4th, Adam presented his research at the Indigenous Embassy Jerusalem’s Antisemitism Symposium.

November is Mizrachi Heritage Month; November 30 is Commemoration of the exile of almost one million Jews from Arab lands and Iran in the 20th century

On June 23, 2014 the Government of Israel adopted a law, which designates November 30th as an annual, national day of commemoration for the nearly one million Jewish refugees who were displaced from Arab countries and Iran in the 20th century. JIMENA, Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa, based in San Francisco has created materials for educators to reinforce and remember the tragedy that befell Mizrachi and Sephardic Jews from 9 Arab countries from 1947-1967. They were forcibly deported, exiled without their possessions, without financial resources. Some experienced attacks, threats, and murder. The Jewish refugees were never compensated, never assisted by any UN agency, dispersed to find their own way, and they did. The majority settled in Israel but many went to Europe or North America. Unlike the Arabs of former Mandate for Palestine who intended a genocide of the Jews returning to their homeland,  who were defeated and claimed refugee status, while dwelling among their cousins in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan or in camps in Judea and Samaria, who received and continue to receive financial benefits, the Jews took care of themselves.

Stand Up for Christians

Call out the Genocide in Sudan

The online site Self Reliance Central published arial images of the land bloodied by a massacre of Christians by Islamist forces operating across Southern Sudan, eliminating the Christian minority. Where are the Leftist humanitarian, social justice protesters?

Call out the Genocide in Nigeria

Read Micha Danzig writes in JNS.org, November 4, 2025 that the world is ignoring the real genocide against Christians. Read this excerpt, “ There’s no moral coherence in a world where Hamas, which hides in hospitals, stores weapons in schools, and denies civilians access to tunnels, is cast as a genocide victim, while Boko Haram, which boasts of killing Christians by the thousands, is excused by ‘context.’”

Town Meeting in Ontario Ends in Call to Kill Zionists

You can’t make this up. At a recent Town Council meeting in Milton, a town to the north west of Toronto, the motion to declare Milton an apartheid free town was denied.  The motion was promoted by a ‘free Palestine” group, but I doubt anyone can explain why it was on the agenda. How is the municipality of Milton expected to influence the war in Gaza? Why would anyone believe there is apartheid in Israel which has a very diverse ethno-religious mix, whereas the Arab Muslim controlled areas of Gaza, and Judea and Samaria are judenfrei and basically ban Jews and others from living under the dogmatic Islamist tyrannies.

Watch (listen to the screams) the members of council looking bewildered as one of the two Muslim women shrieks at the Jews present and tells them to “burn in hell.”  This is the “new Canada.”

NGO Monitor Documents Canada’s Complicity in Anti-Israel Campaign and Atrocities

Published November 19, 2024

“In the aftermath of the brutal Hamas attack on October 7, the Canadian government announced it would match donations, up to $10 million, for the Humanitarian Coalition’s Gaza Humanitarian Emergency Appeal. This was part of Canada’s allocation of “$50 million in humanitarian assistance funding announced on October 21, 2023.”

  • The Humanitarian Coalition comprises 12 NGOsself-described as “trusted Canadian humanitarian aid organizations.” However, NGO Monitor research shows that a number of coalition members have links to proscribed terror groups or partner locally in the West Bank and Gaza with NGOs affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). “

Shurat HaDin in Toronto

On October 30th, Rachel Weiser, Senior Attorney and CDO of Shurat HaDin, the Israel Law Center, spoke to a committed audience of lawyers and activists. Outlining the work of this incredible Israeli NGO, its goal, strategies and successes was encouraging as the Jewish community strives to find ways to beat antisemitism. The battle is extensive and reaches across national borders. Shurat HaDin has brought cases to US courts in combating the Iranian threat, impacting hate organizations, diminishing the power of anti-Israel NGOs. Following the money and winning awards is a key aspect of their work.

CAEF was pleased to cosponsor this event with Lawyers Combating Antisemitism, Tafsik and AISH Thornhill Community Shul, and urges support for the important work of Shurat HaDin.
