Meet Dr. Xu Xin, an amazing scholar and friend of the Jewish people who has visited Israel countless times, taught Chinese students for decades about Jews and Israel, and shared the truth, countering misconceptions with deep understanding and appreciation for the Jewish people.
Dr. Xu Xin served as the founding Diane and Guilford Glazer Chair’s Professor of Jewish and Israel Studies at Nanjing University. He served as President of the China Judaic Studies Association, Editor-in-Chief and a major contributor to the Chinese edition of Encyclopedia Judaica (1993). He is the author of several books including Antisemitism: Past and Present (2016), A History of Western Culture (2002), The Jews of Kaifeng, China; History, Culture and Religion (2003), Aliens in a Strange Land: Jews and Modern China (2017) and Concise History of Israel (2025).
Xu Xin has and MA and PhD from Nanjing University, and served as a fellow at Hebrew Union College, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at both Bar-Ilan University and Tel Aviv University and has been honoured by Bar-Ilan University with an honorary Doctor of Philosophy, Honoris Causa.
