Seeking Justice and Rectification Through Education
Sign Petition e-7123 to the Canadian parliament which was initiated by descendants of Jewish refugees unjustly interned during WWII.
The petition has two key points:
Implore the Prime Minister of Canada to apologize in the House of Commons on behalf of the Government of Canada for the unjust internment of Jewish refugees; and
Fund programs to increase awareness of Canada’s treatment of interned Jewish refugees during World War II and to counter the antisemitism which engendered those policies and which is currently on the rise again. This education initiative should include: funding for historical plaques to commemorate the nine internment prisons, outreach programs in high schools, funding for university courses on civilian internment and the roots of antisemitism, funding for non-profits that provide services to refugees, funding to maintain the gravesites of two Jewish refugees who died in custody, a documentary video, funding for school field trips to the sites of internment prisons, and an exhibit of photos, artwork and crafts made by the internees.
Canadian Jewish News published a feature and podcast on the petition and interviewed several historians.

Reminder. If you haven’t signed the following petitions yet, Do so Now!
Sign Petition e-7069 to Canadian parliament addressing the terrible antisemitic petition sponsored by NDP MP Heather MacPherson, CAEF initiated this petition introduced by Conservative MP Roman Baber, that addresses human rights that must include Jews. Heather MacPherson wants to target people who have served in the IDF or other defense positions in Israel, people who support and defend the Jewish homeland. The CAEF petition points out this is discriminatory.
