Hon. Jill Dunlop
Minister of Education
Government of Ontario
Dear Minister Dunlop;
I am writing on behalf of the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation to extend congratulations on your appointment as Minister of Education. We recognize this is one of the most important portfolios of the government. CAEF looks forward to working with you on issues important to the Jewish community and the province as a whole, as education of our children is a primary concern.
CAEF and the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values, invite you to a symposium on The New Antisemitism, which is affecting the educational system from K-12. The speakers are experts in their research and analysis of the impact of Critical Race Theory and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies and practices that have contributed vastly to the increase in racism, antisemitism and divisiveness among our children and youth. The symposium is on September 22, 2024 at the Leah Poslun Theatre, Prosserman Jewish Community Centre in Toronto.
We are working with Laura Smith M.P.P. on proposing provincial safe zone legislation for schools, places of worship, and other venues that have been targeted for protests in Ontario.
We would like to schedule a meeting with you to discuss the implementation of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of antisemitism within the educational system at all levels, and the proposed safe zone legislation.
We appreciate your Government’s support for IHRA but now request that it be made part of the training of all educators, administrators and staff within the educational system with accountability standards that will allow you to monitor its effectiveness in addressing Jew hatred.
Yours truly,
Charles Cooke,
Board Member and Government Relations Representative, CAEF
