Brig. Gen Marc Theriault
Deputy Secretary of Honours
The Canadian Chancellery
Office of the Governor General of Canada
Rideau Hall, Ottawa Ontario K1A 0A1
Dear Brig. Gen. Theriault:
Re: Mohamed Fakih, C.M.
We are writing, pursuant to Section 5 of the Policy and Procedure for Termination of Appointment to the Order Of Canada, to request that proceedings commence for the termination of Mr. Fakih's appointment to the Order of Canada. In our view, Mr. Fakih's behavior constitutes a significant departure from generally-recognized standards of public behaviour which is seen to undermine the credibility, integrity or relevance of the Order, or detracts from the original grounds upon which the appointment was based.
Mr. Fakih maintains an account on the social media platform X using the handle @mohamadfakih8, and has over 70,300 followers.
On August 25, 2025, Mr. Fakih posted the following message on his X account:
This posting is degrading and dehumanizing to millions of Canadians who support the State of Israel, including the overwhelming majority of Jewish Canadians. The State of Israel is a strong ally of Canada and a sister democracy. The posting literally states that Canadian supporters of Israel "do not have basic human values, let alone Canadian values." This posting negates the values of diversity, respect and tolerance of divergent points of view that exemplify Canadian democracy. In sum, this statement renders Mr. Fakih unfit to continue as a member of the Order of Canada, and bring the Order into disrepute.
Yours very truly,

Michael Teper
