Legal Update
The Alliance of Canadians Combatting Antisemitism (ALCCA) is an umbrella organization of 35 grassroots Jewish Community advocacy groups, in which CAEF is a member.
ALCCA Senior Criminal Counsel Rochelle Direnfeld and ALCCA President Mark Sandler have written detailed articles about the week’s developments including:
The Attorney General of Ontario’s application for an injunction against the Al Quds Day hate rally on University Avenue in Toronto, and the Superior Court’s denial of the application.
A bizarre charge of “public incitement of hatred against an identifiable group” laid against an Iranian counter-protester, for protesting against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The intensifying hate propaganda posters plaguing the corner of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue, in the heart of Toronto’s Jewish community
In an incident apparently unrelated to the Al Quds Day hate mob, criminal harassment and mischief charges were laid against Rostam RASHIDKHANI for visiting the complainant’s residence twice, banging on the door while making racist and antisemitic remarks, and on a third time standing outside and playing a speech by Adolf Hitler on his cell phone.
Rochelle Direnfeld: Hate Crime and Legal Update: Al-Quds Injunction Denied, Charges Laid, and Hitler Speech Case in Toronto
CAEF has filed a Community Impact Statement in the case of R. v. SHERIF with the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa. Deana SHERIF was found guilty of criminal harassment of a Jewish man who exited a government building while wearing a kippah. SHERIF is well known in Ontario’s Jewish community as a hostile actor who has attacks Jews and others with her high-pitched high-volume electric sound weapon. The sentencing hearing will take place on May 1 in Ottawa.
CAEF will also be filing a Community Impact Statement in the case of Nicholas AMOR, who has pleaded guilty to public incitement of hatred against Jews and possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace. He posted numerous statements on Facebook and Instagram calling for “Zionists” to be killed and claiming that Jews are disease bearing vermin. The sentencing hearing will take place on April 16 in Windsor.
CAEF is tracking approximately 60 cases of antisemitic hate crimes and hate-motivated crimes, and plans to file Community Impact Statements every time a defendant in a priority case is found guilty. We are also pursuing antisemitism related professional misconduct complaints with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario College of Teachers, and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
CAEF President Michael Teper filed two additional complaints of willful promotion of hatred against Jews on March 19, 2026 at 01:00. Incident 26-570632 and Incident 26-571340, both with Toronto Police Constables Kasa 12561 and Kim 9730.

Two American Professional Bodies Celebrate their Antisemitic Wins
What does it mean when educated people support Jew hatred, vote to boycott and isolate Israel? See postings below which were proudly displayed by two professional associations in the US-celebrating the BDS votes. Remember that in Germany, the Nazis were the educated elite, with doctors, judges, academics being the first to fire Jews, boycott Jewish businesses, limit Jewish life. Studies today confirm that the most educated, including university profs, medical practitioners, lawyers, teachers, are often among the most antisemitic.
CAEF is monitoring social media postings, protests and other behaviours of teachers, doctors, therapists, engineers and others who deserve to be exposed, disciplined and held accountable. CAEF files formal complaints with the professional regulating bodies, files freedom of information requests and community impact statements when discipline is being decided, holding haters accountable.

The Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism (ICSA) Launches
The Foundational Book Project
ICSA is a scholarly enterprise dedicated to producing and disseminating critical scholarship on the origin, evolution, and contemporary manifestations of antizionism as an ideology, a worldview, and a movement. It will be affiliated with a university and is currently welcoming scholars to join and participate. Already more than 140 scholars have joined, with a Substack following of 3200, and there is a long list of potential projects for the those on the growing roster to produce. ICSA launched with a seven-webinar series that started in December 2025 and continues through May 2026 (“Antizionism: The History of an Ideology”), and is now turning to produce a multi-volume foundational book to serve as an encyclopedia of its subject.
