Dear Prime Minister Carney,

You are following blindly behind the world, parroting Hamas propaganda and refusing to place the blame where it squarely belongs: on a genocidal terror regime. Instead of leading with moral clarity, you are being led by Hamas, by international appeasers, and by anti-Israel ideologues, down the path of least resistance. A path soaked in Jewish blood.

You must grow some strength of character. Some backbone. Some moral certainty. Because when the voices of terror take up residence in your house, it is your job not to accommodate them, but to throw them out.

Instead, you’ve chosen to demonize Israel on the world stage, accusing it of violating international law, calling for it to be stripped of humanitarian oversight, and teetering dangerously close to accusing it of genocide.

Your April comment at a public rally: “I’m aware [it’s genocide], that’s why we have an arms embargo,” was a disgraceful breach of your responsibility as a Canadian leader. Whether misspoken or not, it gave fuel to those who seek to erase the Jewish state, and it put an immediate target on our backs.

Jewish Canadians have watched our synagogues be vandalized, our children be harassed, our rallies be swarmed. And every time a leader like you fails to name Hamas as the root of the problem, and instead singles out Israel, the one democracy defending itself from barbaric terror, you make things worse. You embolden hate. You legitimize both antisemitism and antizionism. You raise the threat level for every Jew in this country.

And now, by aligning yourself with a UN system that protected October 7 collaborators, that shelters antisemites in its ranks, and that permanently targets the Jewish state for condemnation, you are not standing for peace. You are standing for appeasement.

Your government claims to support the IHRA definition of antisemitism, but your rhetoric violates it. You hold Israel to standards you apply to no other nation. You ignore Hamas’ use of human shields, its attacks on aid convoys, its theft of food and fuel. You downplay 1,200 Israeli murders, and you erase the trauma of 50 hostages still underground.

Enough.

We demand an immediate retraction of your call to strip Israel of aid oversight. We expect full clarification on your genocide comments and public reaffirmation of Canada’s commitment to the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and an acknowledgment that demonizing Israel violates it.

You are the Prime Minister of all Canadians. That includes Jewish Canadians. And yet, your words have made us feel less safe, less heard, and less protected.

Mr. Carney, we all knew you hated Israel. At least the veil is off.

Sincerely,

Canadian Women Against Antisemitism (CWAA)
