Letter from Richard Sherman to Editor, Middlebury Jewish Re: Students Rename Hillel and Echo the German National Jews Who Sided with the Nazis – May 13, 2026

Dear Letter to the Editor:

For the Middlebury Hillel to change its name to Jewish Association of Middlebury because it has an affinity for the people of Gaza who joyously participated -- 2200 out of 6000 koranic  murderous sociopaths were Gazan civilians - in the horrors of 10/7 including the rape, murder, beheadings, disembowelments, eviscerations, cutting off breasts and slicing open vaginas of hundreds of Jewish women, girls, infants, newborns and Holocaust survivors and who joyously supported all 1200 murders.( See: " Ordinary Gazans and Oct 7: Hatred Among the Population and the Massacre", NY Daily News, Jeffrey Herbst, former President of Colgate and Chair of the Department of Politics at Princeton, 12/14/23) leaves no doubt that the Jewish Association of Middlebury are the sad successors to the Association of German National Jews, led by Max Neuman,  who believed the Jews and Nazis had an affinity. This myopia is repeated today by the Jewish Association of Middlbury which refuses to recognize the simple truth in front of them:

During World War 2 hundreds of gentiles risked their lives to rescue Jews. Some did. Oskar Schindler is the most famous. They are memorialized in Israel as Righteous Gentiles.

In contrast, after 10/7 not a single Gazan civilian lifted a finger to  attempt to rescue any of the 250 Jews brutally kidnapped by both Hamas and Gazan civilians on 10/7 and held in Auschwitz- like conditions near them in Gaza. To choose to embrace such Gazans  who lack a scintilla of human decency towards the Jewish people and reject Hillel, a proud Zionist organization representing the sole foundational narrative of Judaism, the Return to Zion,  leaves no doubt that Max Neuman, from the very warm place where he resides, is smiling knowing he will soon be meeting every member of the Jewish Association of Middlebury.

Further the title of the 2026 book by best selling author Gad Saad explains 100% of the pathetic  myopia of the  Jewish Association of Middlebury: " Suicidal Empathy".
