Dear Letter to the Editor:
Jo-Ann Mort naively thinks that there a difference between Hamas and the people of Gaza (" You Can Oppose Israel's Policies Without Killing Jewish People"). On 10/7 2200 Gazan civilian willing executioners embraced 3800 Hamas sociopaths to murder, rape, behead, disembowel and eviscerate 1200 Jews.
It has been reported that the people of Gaza in effect celebrate the barbarity against Jews of 10/7 the way Americans celebrate the Super Bowl.
See:"Ordinary Gazans' and Oct 7: Hatred Among the Population and the Massacre", Professor Jeffrey Herbst, former President of Colgate University and Chairman of the Department of Politics at Princeton University, New York Daily News, 11/14/23.
The people of Gaza demonstrated on 10/7 that they are Hamas' willing executioners just as the German people as Harvard Associate Professor Daniel Goldhagen eloquently made clear were Hitler's willing executioners.(" Hitler's Willing Executioners: Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust, Daniel Goldhagen, 1996).
Clearly the eliminationist antisemitism that Associate Professor Goldhagen demonstrated was foundational to German culture is equally foundational to Gazan culture.
The substantial and enthusiastic Gazan civilian participation in 10/7 leaves no doubt.
Richard Sherman, Florida
