Dear Mayor Martinez-Almeida,
On behalf of the Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation, I write to congratulate you for standing up for Truth, and to thank you for reaching out to the Mayor and the citizens of Tel Aviv to offer to twin Madrid and Tel Aviv. This is a noble and heartfelt gesture that I hope will be accepted by Tel Aviv and will work to the benefit of both wonderful, historic and cultural centers that your two cities represent.
In this time of great polarization in Western countries and challenges in so many spheres, truth is often sacrificed at great expense to our societies. We must have courageous people like you demonstrate to the world that what is "popular" and/or "expedient," might not be the correct thing to do. Barcelona has been lowered in public perception as to its respect for human understanding and tolerance as its Mayor caved to a vocal antisemitic campaign. Your taking the initiative to reach out to the Jewish city and stand with Tel Aviv, Israel is commendable.
May you know many blessings, and may there be peace in both Madrid and Tel Aviv.
