Dear Ms. Topsakal, Dr. Carr and Ms. Fish,

This message is a formal complaint regarding Professor Chantal David (Mathematics). On Instagram (re-post by @CJPME regarding a McGill BDS motion) – Professor David wrote appalling, explicitly violent and dehumanizing statements about Zionists and Jewish people — including “kill them all, as they say,” references to Israel’s destruction, and describing people as “monsters,” and dehumanizing children. These comments target a protected group and create a hostile, unsafe environment for Jewish students, staff and colleagues.

I believe these public statements constitute harassment, discrimination, threatening or violent conduct and the communication of discriminatory matter, and may amount to threatening or violent conduct as defined by Concordia’s Code of Rights and Responsibilities (offences including harassment (art.32), discrimination (art.35), communication of discriminatory matter (art.36), and threatening or violent conduct (art.30)).

Given the severity and public nature of these statements, I request immediate and transparent action: a formal investigation, temporary suspension from teaching duties pending that investigation, and consideration of termination consistent with University policy and public safety obligations. Concordia must demonstrate it does not tolerate dehumanization or calls for violence by members of its faculty.

Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise the next steps and timeline for investigation.

Very truly yours,

R. Michael Teper

President

Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation
