Terrorists In Jerusalem, Slaughtered 6 Civilians
CAEF mourns the death of 6 innocent Israelis who stood a bus shelter in Jerusalem on Monday September 8, 2025. This tragedy was a huge blow to Israel and the Jewish people, yet one more tragedy in a long war against terrorism.
An ultra-Orthodox Israeli soldier and civilians eliminated the 2 attackers, but not before the murder of 6 and wounding of another 12 people. Mainstream media would have us believe this is the result of the war in Gaza in which there is increased violence now on both sides. People ought to consider that the murder of innocent civilians is not the revenge that a military would seek—this is pure Islamist terrorism by militant extremists. Suggesting that there is now increased “settler violence” by Israel is ludicrous. Israelis are not entering Arab communities, shooting up in the public square, ramming, stabbing, throwing rocks at innocents. This is another front in the Israeli war, a war against terrorism, in Israel proper.

Avrich’s Film Rescued and Premiered at TIFF
On September 10, TIFF aired The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue, a documentary by Barry Avrich which includes amazing interviews with the family of Noam Tibon, and footage of October 7, 2023. Attended by almost 1800 people at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, the program opened with apologies from TIFF President and CEO, Cameron Bailey, acknowledging the harm and pain his original decision caused the Jewish community. Originally, for rather ludicrous and upsetting reasons, the original offer to show the film, was cancelled. Due to significant blowback from the local Jewish community and international criticism, the film was rebooked and the venue chosen was significant in size ad status.
A small protest group made loud unpleasant noises, while waving Palestinian flags and posters with bigoted messages. There was a small counter protest but significantly, there were more police than protesters and two pro-Israel people waved Israeli and Canadian flags. There was a ton of security, as thorough or more so than at the Toronto International Airport.

The film recreates the entire day, from dawn to dusk that retired General Tibon and his wife, experienced after learning about the Hamas invasion of their son, Amir, and daughter-in-law’s community, Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The confinement to their safe room lasted for over 10 hours and through it the younger couple, comforted and distracted their two young daughters, while Noam and Gali Tibon rescued injured soldiers, and dashed across fields, avoiding road blocks. In the end, Noam led two units of IDF into the kibbutz and rescued hundreds of people, eliminating terrorists.
This is an incredible story, a fantastic documentary film that is a MUST See.
The only negative moments came from the poorly conducted interview by LaFlamme who showed either ignorance or bias in asking guests, Noam and Gali about the death of 64,000 Palestinians. Only a person who doesn’t read the news, would believe a Hamas Health Ministry number, fake data! The facts are that combatants make up a majority of those killed, civilians are killed by Hamas and PIJ, and many people died due to natural causes but are included in the fake data from Hamas. Further, instead of focusing on the trauma created by Hamas, the slaughter of innocents that continues due to Hamas, in Israel and Gaza, LaFlamme asked Gali Tibon how the war could end. A 35 year former General was sitting there, yet his wife was asked how to end the war. Her response was, “It could have ended, the hostages, could have been freed.” She did not offer any explanation as to how this could have been achieved.
Danger Lurks on Campus in Canada
Is it just words when people cast aspersions on other people or groups, faiths, ethnicities with no consequences? The free speech debate is long from resolved.
Read about the devastating slander and intolerant postings against Jews, Zionists, Conservatives, posted in a London based chatgroup by students of Western University. These posts were monitored by Jewish students who were more than just intimidated. Some posts suggested violence, many celebrated the barbarism of October 7. Lawyer, Jonathan Rosenthal, acting on behalf of the students, brought this to the attention of President Alan Shepad and others.
Read the administration’s fatuous responses in a multipage story written by Ari David Blaff for National Post on September 10, 2025. Does the label of “private” make this okay? Does the lack of connection officially to the student union or the Palestinian Cultural Club, exonerate the university from any responsibility? Should the RCMP conduct a full investigation and consider laying charges against those who posted the most egregious statements that are threatening or endorsing violence?
Rally for the Hostages; Say No to Terrorism
On September 7, 2000 Jews and allies marched through the downtown corridor of Toronto, north on Bay Street and South on Yonge Street, with posters and chants in support of the themes; Let My People Go, Deport Terrorists, Free Free the Hostages, and Stop Terrorism. Organized by Avi Attali, founder of Oneglobalvoice and VP of CAEF, the event drew representatives from Hindu, Iranian, Christian, Yezidi and other communities together. All acknowledge they are affected by radical Islamist terrorism.
Accompanying the marchers was an Led Billboard truck which has incredible videos of October 7 and of terrorism across the globe, messages that affect many communities.

Extremism and terrorism are a worldwide problem, accentuated by rowdy supporters holding regular protests, threatening the security of Jews globally, and using threats and radicalism to shut down events or exclude Israelis from participating. This is happening in sport and cultural events and the politicians of all parties pander to it. Avoidance of trouble is the key message, not protecting Jews. So, if malicious entities threaten to harm Jews, shutter an event, make trouble, are they stopped? Nope, the Jews are told to stay home. Consider, TIFF originally chose to cancel an Israeli film. Tennis Canada is holding the Canada-Israel Davis Cup match without an audience, in a closed space. The Pride Parade in Ottawa was cancelled. Gay Jews were told they were not welcome at Pride in one eastern province.
The response to terror in Canada, seems to be to acquiesce most often or as first consideration. Only loud voices and shame turn this around.
The Sunday march was unhindered by the anti-Israel protesters and well secured and aided by Toronto Police Services, so thank you TPS.
Legal Update
Patrick Gordon MACDONALD
On September 8, 2025, in Ontario Superior Court sitting at Ottawa, Patrick Gordon MACDONALD was sentenced by Mr. Justice Robert Smith to 10 years of imprisonment for the following terrorism offences:
Enhancing the ability of any terrorist group to facilitate or carry out a terrorist activity.
Facilitating a terrorist activity.
Committing an indictable offence for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with one or more terrorist group.

Case Exhibits, Ontario Superior Court of Justice
MACDONALD participated in the creation and editing of three recruitment videos encouraging viewers to commit violent acts on behalf of the Atomwaffen Division (AWD), which is listed as a terrorist group by Public Safety Canada, and by posting the videos and other violent images online as propaganda for AWD.
MACDONALD also facilitated the creation of these recruitment videos by providing his equipment, namely his Fuji camera and lenses to take images for the videos. As
As MACDONALD was trained as a graphic designer, he was capable of producing the videos.
The Crown requested a sentence of 14 years, while the defence argued for six to eight years and 10 months of credit for time already served. The judge denied the Crown's application for a ruling that MACDONALD serve half his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Accordingly, MACDONALD will become eligible for a parole hearing in three years.
We acknowledge and thank B'nai Brith Canada for filing a Community Impact Statement in this case. In the Community Impact Statement filed with the court, B'nai Brith Canada Ottawa regional Director Harry Topas stated:
"The videos he helped produce were designed to encourage a revolution to destroy the 'Jewish system' and to encourage viewers to 'purge the weak,'" Topas told the judge, appearing via video. To Mr. MacDonald and the Attomwaffen Division, we are a disease in need of eradication to enable the establishment of a white ethno-state. Such dehumanization has an almost indescribable negative impact on our community. Canadian Jewry did not survive the Holocaust, pogroms, and other unimaginable atrocities and hardships to face threats of annihilation from neo-Nazi terrorists in our adopted homeland. Our forefathers did not commit themselves to contributing to the betterment of Canadian society for their progeny to face calls for our eradication."

From Darkness to Light
Speaking at Chabad Flamingo, Toronto, on September 11th, the former Israeli hostage, Omer Shem Tov was a ray of bright light in an otherwise dark world.
What an emotional night with ‘free man’ as released hostage Omar Shem Tov described himself. The details of his 505-day ordeal in captivity brought the audience to tears. But he had an uplifting message to share. He told the packed synagogue that he heard our hopes and prayers for him, and they helped keep him going -that plus cooking and cleaning for his tormentors.
Let us continue to pray and demand the release of all the remaining hostages. During his talk, he reminded us of the heroes of the Jewish people including the soldiers of the IDF and everyday heroes like Rachel who held the terrorists off with cookies until the police arrived.

Today, Germany made it clear they will not recognize Palestinian statehood. After meeting with Prime Minister Carney, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany “does not consider the conditions for state recognition to be fulfilled in any way at present.”
He’s right. As Merz put it: “Canada knows this. We will not join this initiative. We don’t see the requirements met.”
Recognizing a Palestinian state right now would only undermine peace efforts. It won’t free the Israeli hostages, end Hamas’ rule in Gaza, or improve the humanitarian situation on the ground for Palestinians.
That’s why we’re calling on the Canadian government to change course.
Chancellor Merz gets it. We need you to help Prime Minister Carney understand.

Ontario Public Schools: It is time for our outrage to be heard!
Can you believe what is happening in Ontario public schools? -- Lower achievement results, political ideology in the classroom, antisemitism, students feeling unsafe, parent concerns ignored. Let's make a change together.
Please consider sending one of the letters below to the Minister of Education, Paul Calandra, with a cc to Premier Doug Ford, and Denise Cole, the deputy Minister of Education. Better yet, use some of the points to write your own letter. Please sign with your name, city and postal code. If you are so inclined, sending a letter by snail mail is even more effective.
Minister Paul Calandra:
Premier Doug Ford:
Deputy Minister of Education:
We ask that you forward this to others who are concerned about the welfare and education of our children.
**For more information on the serious issues in Ontario education, we recommend the recently released report from JEFA (Jewish Educators and Families Association), "End the Crisis in Education: A Plan for Equal Rights and Real Learning."
Letter #1:
Dear Minister Calandra,
Thank you for taking the moral stance of overseeing four Ontario school districts because of their fiscal mismanagement. A great many Ontario parents and taxpayers believe all school districts should be supervised by the Ministry.
I am writing to you about my concern that antisemitism has gone unchecked in too many schools today. Bullying and harassment of Jewish students have been tolerated by teachers, administrators and school staff. Antisemitic acts and rhetoric in our schools have created a toxic learning environment for all students. It is impossible to focus on learning when you fear for your personal safety, when you are afraid to help your Jewish classmates and when you lose trust in your teacher who silently condones the harassment against Jewish students or who actually initiates it.
To address this intolerable situation we ask you to please consider the following:
Abolish the Ontario College of Teachers. The Ministry of Education should be responsible for both the licensing and disciplining of teachers.
Review the Anti Racism Act for schools as it promotes unequal rights for students
Ensure all administrators, teachers, students and parents are knowledgeable of policies and procedures that deal with student bullying and harassment
Mandate that all teachers use only those learning resources and teaching tools approved by the Ministry of Education with supporting professional development programs to guide them.
There must be zero tolerance for antisemitism in our schools. Teachers who fail to protect Jewish students fail all their students because politics and religious ideologies have no place in the classroom. It is time for “schools to be schools” where student learning, both socially and academically, is the primary goal in each classroom.
Thank you for your attention to my concerns. I look forward to your response.
Letter #2:
Dear Minister Calandra,
I’d like to thank you and Premier Ford for your government’s decision to take four school boards, including TDSB, under supervision.
Although you have specified that this supervision is for financial mismanagement, I note from news reports that you believe the boards have failed to “ensure student success.”
I could not agree more. The core mission of schools is to teach basic skills in reading and writing, math, history and science. Ontario schools are failing at this, as demonstrated by declining results on the international PISA tests and the Ontario Grade 9 math and Grade 10 literacy tests. Teaching time has been hijacked for political indoctrination.
Students should not be subjected to lessons on white privilege, anti-capitalism, or anti-Zionism promoted by teachers’ unions. Controversial topics like these divide children by identity and do not belong in the classroom.
Minister Calandra, I urge you to force all Ontario school boards to return their focus to basic skills. Please instruct school boards to:
Ensure that all teaching materials are vetted for political bias, with penalties for teachers who bring politics into schools.
Remind teachers that it is not their role to turn their students into activists, and hold them accountable if they violate that principle.
Prohibit teachers’ unions, whose mandate is teachers’ salaries and working conditions, from designing curriculum and offering professional development sessions.
The school day is short, and Ontario’s test results are appalling. It’s time to refocus our schools on skills, not politics.
Thank you for your attention to my concerns. I look forward to your response.
Letter #3:
Dear Minister Calandra,
Thank you for taking the initiative and responsibility of overseeing the fiscal management of four Ontario school boards including TDSB. This decision demonstrates your serious commitment to improving the education of our students.
But I urge you to go one step further.
If we want Ontario students to succeed, they must feel safe, valued and respected in a welcoming environment. Clearly, this is not the case at the present time. Take the case of a six year old student who was told by a teacher that she was only half human because one of her parents was Jewish. That teacher should have lost her license, but instead the child was punished by being transferred. Parent concerns were ignored. This pattern of ignoring parents' concerns is confirmed by a recent survey that revealed that parent concerns were acknowledged only 49% of the time. This is unacceptable and must be addressed by you, the Minister of Education.
I urge you to do the following:
Return to a previous model whereby the Ministry of Education directly licences teachers and is in charge of investigatory and disciplinary matters.
Instruct all school superintendents and principals to address parent concerns re: bullying and harassment in a serious and timely manner. School superintendents and principals must report teacher misconduct to the Minister of Education.
Update professional standards of a teacher's license to include prohibition of discrimination against students on the basis of their identity.
Reinstate a zero-tolerance policy in all Ontario schools whereby bullying and physical violence will not be tolerated. As things stand now, students who are violent or bully face no serious consequences.
Thank you for taking these recommendations seriously. I look forward to your response.
